Fitting some new main bearings to the engine case's. I no put the bearings in the freezer for 24 hours but at what temp and how long would the engine case's need to be in the oven for, may be put them in while i cook the roast tomorrow. Usually i just heat round the bearing housing with blow torch, no one has given an answer to cooking case's. Thanks
As I'm sure you know dahhling all ovens are different but in mine I find bringing them up to 100degrees for an hour or two makes them taste perfect. As long as your bearings fall in with no interference they're warm enough
Or could you not get some dry ice and put them into that for a few hours and you probably won't need to heat up the engine cases.Your boc gas supplier usually do dry ice.
15-20 minutes at around 100C usually works fine. Unless the cases are very clean, be prepared to have a nice smell of hot oil in your oven......
Here's what the manual says, also worth bearing in mind that I've successfully used pans of boiling water to heat bearing housings up when I didn't have access to a large enough oven: To renew the bearings proceed as follows: -heat the crankcase half in an oven to 100 °C; -remove the bearing using a drift and hammer; - install the new bearing (while the crankcase is still hot) keeping it perfectly square in its seat using a tubular drift that only bears on the outer ring of the bearing; - allow the parts to cool and check that the bearing is securely seated in the crankcase. Fit the bearings positioning them so that the writing faces the bushes. Important: On worn engines, the bearing holder may no longer be a tight fit in the crankcase half. After having removed the bearing holder, check that the interference fit between the crankcase and the holder with the bearing installed is no less than 0.03 mm, otherwise the crankcase halves must be renewed
