1200 DVT Aftermarket Warranty

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Coman, Nov 22, 2017.

  1. Anyone on here have a good aftermarket warranty? My 2015 DVT is just out of warranty, and as a second hand bike I was not able to get Ducatis' extended warranty.

Warranty Direct want £555 for a year (£654 if you aren't a returning member)! Back in 2012 it was about £400 IIRC. Not only that, it covered European use as I know to my benefit after breaking down on an Autostrada, but the current one does not. Not much point in buying their policy as Europe is where at least half of my miles are done.

  2. Personally, would get Euro breakdown cover, but not the warranty, not convinced of them to be honest ?

  3. I had good experience with them. As mentioned, in 2012 on the way back from World Ducati Week my 1200 expired on an Autostrada, just two weeks out of warranty. There I was just 150 miles from Bologna and Ducati wouldn't help. Very fortunately I'd arranged a policy with Warranty Direct and whilst they didn't do any organising, they paid most of the repair bill once I'd sent the invoice to them.

Also, my car (2005 Saab) has cover with them, and last year the security system crashed and it needed towing away and a new 'computer' installed and keys reprogrammed etc. The bill was over £850 and they covered over half of that (reduced due to the car's age), which amply covered the £136 premium. However this year, as the car is over 12 years old, they'll only cover the engine and gearbox essentially, so I probably won't bother to get cover again.

I take your point about just getting European cover, that's what I'll probably do.

  4. :p Coman,
Have a look at Start-Rescue Euro cover, it includes just about everything and yes whilst you might still end up with a bill to pay for bike repairs, at least you will have circa £500 towards it with the saving from those robbing bastards Warranty Direct....
I think their current wording also still doesn't include European cover in any event.

Oh and one final point, you can afford it any way, so stop being a skinflint! o_O:sob:
Good to catch-up at some point in the future, before the EMM perhaps?

    Regards

  5. Hello Tony. Nice to hear from you.
I had a look at Start Rescue reviews. They were either 5 star good or 1 star appalling! Nothing in between. I was wondering if you ever had cause to use them for a rescue?
I wonder who Keffs used when in Andorra. They seemed to be good.

A meet up next Spring is a fine idea. Any idea where the EMM will be? I'm going to North Spain with my regular riding buddies in May/June and will then zoom off to Provence so I'll be local-ish to attend from there.

PS. How do you get emoticons on your post? I must be thick as I can't see a link anywhere!

  6. Pierre,
Quelle dommage... I can't believe you of all peeps, didn't or don't know about the EMM 2018 in Haute Savoie!
What is going on in our Mutli world?:broken_heart:

You must have your multistrada.net set-up to send you an email when topics come-up, but then again?
Start-Rescue, no I haven't (fingers crossed) had to use their services as yet, but they were really excellent when I wanted to add my RSV to B/D cover, actually giving me guidance to save money, however, clearly that doesn't equate to good B/D service cover when needed. :(

:poop: Emoticons: Just look at the header above where you write your reply, which becomes accessible when you actually reply, by clicking on the smiley face, then a drop down list of availability stares right back at you to simply select. Click and go. Oh and yes, it goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway, yes you are thick :p

Oh and I can now see you've vented your spleen on the MS.Net mob and now you're "in" :splat::sweat:
