  1. In London we are only too aware of the political knee-jerking regards cyclist deaths that has brought the traffic to even more of a standstill by closing traffic lanes and turning them into cycle lanes, which are mainly empty other than at peak hours.

The city is awash with kamikaze self-righteous cyclists with no insurance, no number plates for identification, and many have no regard for other road users or pedestrians.

Talking of pedestrians - they should also make 'jaywalking' illegal in big cities, the vast majority of pedestrian deaths in London occur within 50ft of a controlled pedestrian crossing yet it's almost always the motorist that collides with the dumb ass that gets the sh*t.

Not enough personal responsibility is taken for people's own well being yet the state still nannies us into protecting the stupid.

  4. I guess London, especially, is a completely different planet (never mind country) when it comes to people getting around the place, be that cyclists, pedestrians, taxis, cars, etc all behave significanty differently to the more civilised parts of the country (especially up north ;-) ) In fact, I found driving in and around Belfast to be an eye opener in terms of courtesy from drivers of all types, and some cracking roads within 5 minutes of the city.

  5. We change the laws to be sensible and protect both parties. People have been educated to what red traffic lights mean, and what pedestrian crossings mean, but that doesn't make people use them.

  8. I know from personal experience the damage a speed bump can have on a person unaware he is about to go over one. As a passenger in a van I was looking out of the passenger side window when we went over a speed bump I wasn't expecting, it broke my neck, I was a very lucky lad not to be parallelised.

  12. You jump red lights too  a recent report said 47% of London cyclists ignore traffic lights so only just a minority!!!
But you do know all the posts above are just a friendly wind ups don't you

  13. Cycling clubs tell their mamil's to purposefully ride 2 or 3 abreast and tell them it is safer to do so - we have one in our office, molluscan twits.

 Mmmm, but Lumpy Lycra's that might not be a problem - 6 titties gently joggling side be side while firmly supported is ok with me o_O

  14. 7 if you were there too - but that is doubtful they would let you o_O

  15. Living where I do, I get constantly wound up by the whole group riding thing.

When they ride single file, I’m more than capable of doing a perfectly safe overtake and leaving them plenty of generous room. When they ride two or more abreast, I can barely see past let alone leave enough room between them and I.

I’ve family member and friends that cycle and they pulled out that age old pic showing how the overtake is quicker if they’re two abreast (shorter distance). I take one look and go back with the argument that, the road pictured isn’t indicative of the kind of roads they enjoy riding and therefore spend most of their time. They mostly ride around national speed limit, country lanes. When you reduce the width of the road, only single file ensures clean and safe overtaking.

They argue that they do reduce to single file for those roads but this simply isn’t the case. The below website for a cycle club, states which roads they ride single file on. It basically states they ride doubled up for all but the narrowest of lanes. In reality they double up on those too as they think there won’t be any cars.

  16. No no no no Exe, they are not wind ups. I genuinely fucking despise self righteous, illegal red light jumping, inside overtaking and overly bright front light toss pots wearing sweaty tight stupid clothes on a form of transport from the Victorian era !! Move on fuckers !!! The engine has been invented !! :D:upyeah:
