Had fuses blowing issues since Saturday. This morning departed for some fun after thinking I have found my electrical issue Saturday evening. Mistake. 5 miles in to trip it blew a ignition fuse and then another. Decided to ride back home avoiding all bumps to not blow fuse again. Still blew another few. Sadly the last one blew while I was going up the hill, turning right, low gear and high revs. Mid turn fuse blew, rear wheel locked and as it was moist off I went. Bike landed on the kerb, skidded along it and before it stopped front hit the kerb. Damage well seems extensive for speed of 15-20 mph. Front spindle is bent no matter got another, right peg damaged as bolt holding it bent. Need new bolt and brake peg as that snapped off. Mirrors gone. Front rim scratched on the shoulder and small dent in it so lucky. Possibly right disc did not check yet. Front brake lever, seal between brake master and fluid reservoir started leaking. Can not change clutch lever to stock one like I did on brake master as pin is stuck. Forks do not know, at first appeared just twisted in yokes. I took them out, rolled on even surface and all looks good. However when refitted one of the forks seems to be moved back against the other by about 2mm. Some of it might be thickness of powder coating as I measured from outside off bottoms not from spindle as have no tool to do that. So can seals between master cylinder and fluid reservoir be purchased? We are talking 999 reservoirs. Any idea how to remove the stuck pin in clutch master to change lever. Do fork bottoms need to be exactly opposite each other to the mm or is my 2mm difference within some kind off error norm? Luca long as your ok They do damage quite well when they go down the road never mind the kerb Hope you get her fixed if not I have a proper bike for sale
my heart sank when I realised it was your Monster - as Viv said, hopefully you're ok but must have some bruises by the sound of it. On the fork front, sounds like yokes are tweaked slightly to me.
Can you straighten the yokes? Is it home doable? Also I think I found why it was cutting out. Wires are chewed up next to fuse box. 3 out of 9 had no isolation. Question is mice or did it rub against something?
I am surprised re ok both bike and me landed on kerb. My femur took the brunt, good femur will feed with more milk the usual. Next two weeks 3-4 cups of milk not usual 1-2.
Lucas, there is a kit to change the 999 style fluid reservoirs to traditional style reservoirs, so I'd imagine you can replace those parts. I have clutch and brake masters sitting on a shelf, so please borrow those before spending money on something else.
Jerry is it Ducati kit? If not you know who sells it they might have the seal or cool looking conversion. Thx for offer but at the moment brake master is 4th on list. 1. Check/align forks/yokes, 2. Check/replace front brake disc if needed, 3. Fix the stupid cutting out issue.
Chris can you make a photo of how loom is routed from fuse box towards air-box? There is a grove for loom in the plastic bit under the seat but my loom good knackered there so want to check if I had it routed correctly before refitting. Just need part from fuse box just past shock. Your new m900 will have exactly same routing.
Sorry to hear youve had an off. I have the same problem with the pin in my levers. Was just planning on using a larger socket over the pin head, turning it upside down and giving it a tap. Bit of WD, patience and the right sort of tap and I would think it would come out. Best of luck getting it sorted. JC
I can do that today L, when it gets light  EDIT just remembered to tell you - mine had corrosion in the large spade that plugs into the main fuse body (hidden away from view) but I think it only affected the starter circuit for some reason.
If this is the type of lever it has a small grub screw on the underside. You can get a brembo kit for the master cylinders for the push in feed pipes. brian.
Yes, as far as I know it's Ducati kit. I was offered one by ProTwins. I think I have a 5-bolt brake disk in the cellar and I know I have some race disks you can use to get you back on the road. 5-bolt again.
No grab-screw in my pin it is just stuck. I can not even rotate it. The round seal on your second photo is what I need. Will call MR tomorrow. Soon will test the rest of bike properly, forks, rim again and disc. Hope all that is ok.
So sorry for you mate, thats bad luck :frown:. On the wiring front is it fresh out of the shed/garage after winter. The reason i ask is i had a CBR400 years ago, first run after winter lay-up ran like a pig, lights kept fusing and wound`nt rev past 4000rpm. On investigation found a mouse nest in the airbox ( and two died babies ) with straw, shredded cloth and bits of wire insulation they`ed taken from the loom. So i`ed say your wire damage is defo a mouse. Hope ya back on the road soon.
I've got a spare SS front wheel with tyre you can borrow if you need one to get back on the road? Maybe look at your rubbish rear indicators while your at it, I didn't even realise they were working the other day!!
