Thoroughly deserved to get locked up, although I suspect he has a bit of "previous" taken into consideration - Daniel Corneille, who has 55 previous convictions and was once jailed for five-and-a-half years for stabbing a man http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-eng...le-jailed-for-sheerness-traffic-warden-attack
'The defendant was an upstanding man who was having an exceptionally bad day and bit off more than he could chew,' According to his defence barrister.
Does anyone believe the shite spouted by these lawyers. They are as unscrupulous as the people they defend.
Upstanding? A terms used to describe a man already convicted of a stabbing and 55 previous convictions. He sounds like a delightful piece of work, as does his morally bankrupt barrister.
£54,000 a year to house prisoners. Which will be going up no doubt with more private prisons been made (14 currently) but I find this sentence excessive. As Ron has mentioned, he must have previous for ABH/GBH so this is higher (you'd hope) for that reason. He should also be banned from owning a car for assaulting a traffic-warden who was issuing a legal ticket for double-parking'
To be fair, from the video footage where he's parked looks very similar to the space in front where the other cars are. He's not double parked, but does appear to be parked on what looks like cobbles. The double yellows are on the offside of his vehicle, so they wouldn't count and appear confusing. He should never of assaulted the parking warden, however he didn't punch, he pushed him out the way and he seem to fall very easily. His first reaction is to recover his hat, which isn't the action of a badly injured man. Many traffic wardens try to goad you into making an attack as it's an easy 6 months off work and £5k compo. I've had one in Baker street start shouting "don't racially abuse me, don't racially abuse me, don't racially abuse me, " when I pointed out my van has CCTV with audio recording he took the ticket off the van and just walked away. Always two sides to every story and what comes out in court is rarely anything like the truth of the matter.
"Good character" means without previous convictions. "Upstanding" means nothing, but not of good character.
