1200 DVT Quick Shifter Up And Down

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by BigAlan, Dec 16, 2017.

  1. so my mate has a new KTM super duke 1290 as of a week ago and reckons it has the software for the quickshifter installed but not “switched on” and if you wanted it then you pay, I have no idea if this is correct but it got me wondering I wonder if that’s the case with the Multistrada? Does anybody have a laptop which can interrogate the system to find out?

    Might be a load of rubbish BUT!!!!!!!!!

  2. It's probably true, but having a laptop is unlikely to get you anywhere without specialist software and hardware.
    That costs a lot more than what a dealer will charge to enable it.

  3. It’s normally a software update to match new or different sensors.

  4. So is the smart opinion that a dealer should be able to retrofit this to the 1200 DVT in the near future?

  5. I hope so, I rode the Fireblade SP a few months ago with it and it’s a hell of a tool to have, if it turns out the dealer can for a price turn it on then I will be there like a shot.

  6. Definitely true of the KTM though, all SDR's 2.0 have the QS fitted, and auth'ed dealers load the software to activate it.

  7. Had it on my RT 1200 and it was great. Used the downshift more than the upshift. Particularly useful if caught in too high a gear going into a bend. Much quicker than using clutch and means no/minimum time without the engine breaking in those hairy moments when you've misjudged the bend.

  8. Yep, completely true. KTM make them all the same and it simply gets unlocked if you pay. Bit like the license key system on Windows. Depending upon which key you enter at the start, the more features unlocked.

  9. Yeah, but everyone has a ripped off copy of Windows....Hmm, are you saying you know a way of unlocking the QS without KTM's help ?? :thinkingface:

  10. Probably not worth trying. Not sure on the upgrade cost but the cost of a fried ECU when you bugger up the first test unlocking would probably outweigh it.

  11. So , no you don't then :rolleyes::D

  12. Not sure if they changed anything in the gearbox with the new motor.

  13. Anybody have a definite answer, anyone enquiried at a dealer?

    If I remember I will ask the next time I am at OYB

  14. As far as I’m aware KTM is software unlock, however the DVT from 2015 to 2017 not.

    Just had a loan bike today with a quick shifter fitted and down shift autoblipper .....loved it! A little Monster 821, what a hoot.
