Dear Net-Mums Should I use Bio or Non-bio in my washer/dryer (please let's not get into another tumbling debate!). And what the hell is Bio anyway? TIA
I started to notice with the fashion to wash at 30's and 40's that a lot of the clothes were not cleaning as well and some of the laundry stuff tried to hide this with "over scenting" so it smelt fresh but often felt waxy. I rememeber some stuff I used to get from Chain reaction cycles and wiggles bike shops, had a look and although they were selling it still, it was at £5.99 a litre bottle. Shopped around and found sainsbury's do it for £4 a litre bottle. https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/shop/gb/groceries/halo-sports-laundry-liquid-1l-(25-washes)#BVRRWidgetID It works well in some of my bike layering stuff too where blokes don't mind minging a bit this seems to sort it. As sceptic tank has been mentioned, this is not recommended for those not on mains sewage does your mrs know your spying on her?
Other way round. Use non-bio products with septic tanks and treatment plants. The enzymes in biological detergents interfere with the digestion bacteria. Avoid bio altogether or use very sparingly and infrequently.
Really, everyone should probably avoid bio-detergents. You may not have a septic tank but all mains drains effectively discharge into a giant septic tank at the other end. It all has to go through sewage treatment processing and if bios are bad for small household plants, they're probably bad for large water authority plants as well.
