Big bikes red, small bikes yellow, dem's the rules. Next you will be telling me I have to have ducati colour coded one piece leathers too, own up yellow bike owners, do you have yellow leathers too?
Didnt think the French made charismatic V twins..... and Giallo is the only colour.,the word even rolls off the tongue nicely!
After years of the previous series bikes (one of which I still own) I bought a 999 mono nero last year. It's easily the best bike I have owned. My advice would be to get one now before they become unattainable, they really are that good!
I've got a 2006 749S mono which I'm sort of keeping as a hopeful future classic but still to ride at the same time. My usual rides are a 1098S, 1199S and a 1000ss for rides out with the missus. You'll not be surprised to hear that the 749 lacks grunt compared to the others (well apart from the ss!) but it's still a lot of fun as you can keep it opened up all the time. When you have to let off in the corners and feather the power back in on the exit with the bigger bikes, you can just gun it in and out of the corners with the 749 safe in the knowledge it's not going to get away on you. I've never ridden a 999 so can't compare but the 749 is nice fun bike to ride and I'm happy with it. If i didn't have the bigger bikes I'd probably, to be honest go for the 999 for the extra power. Without getting into silly money for an 'R' I'd go for the 'S'. The trouble is the 'S' bikes are climbing in value and are getting into 1098 money. Then I would say without a shadow of doubt buy a 1098 as they are absolutely fantastic bikes. Not sure I've actually helped there!
