1200 DVT Slippy Footpegs

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Lord Farquaad, Jan 11, 2018.

  1. I use my 2017 for commuting and I’m finding the footpegs get slippy when damp. Being vertically challenged I tend to stand on the pegs to swing my leg over (to clear a givi bag on my pillion seat). The last couple of days my boots slipped off the near side peg as I’ve done so. Luckily it’s only my pride damaged so far. I’ve checked the rubber and my boots and they’re clean and not contaminated. Any (constructive) comments or advice (nothing about growing longer legs please).

  2. Enduro pegs ?

  3. Yes i have found the same. The enduro pegs are steel & toothed so no slip.

  4. Does the rubber not pop out the pegs?

  5. It does, you’d have thought that could be a way forward.

  6. I thought that was the whole point in them, that’s why the lower metal bit is jagged :upyeah:

    • Agree Agree x 2
  7. Fit the multi enduro pegs - they are cheaper than the aftermarket ones and give a much bigger peg and also can be used with and without the rubber.

If you decide to keep the rubber in - drill 2 holes and fit it to the peg with a tie wrap from underneath to stop them coming out and getting lost.

    They are a good improvement.

  8. Unfortunately the bare metal peg is even worse. The “serrations” are too blunt to grip.

  9. Have you tried getting on from the right? At least if your foot slips it's towards the bike and not off it.

  10. My push bike has some fancy flat pedals with screw in replaceable studs. May be get some of them and screw them into the blunt teeth of the o/e ones. (If there’s space to do so).

  11. Some good ideas, I’ll have a look at the Enduro pegs and some screw in studs. I’ll
Also practice getting on from the high side

  12. Pivot pegs are nice and wide. You can also use their insert if you don't like the metal serrated surface which makes it a wide but grippy surface. I climbed aboard as you do on my tiger 800 and found my left boot was getting chewed up so I installed the insert.

  13. I agree. The Enduro ones are a standard Ducati part and look right, even on a non-Enduro Multi. They fit straight on. The original footrests seem to have been designed to fit petite Italian feet, not northern size 12s.

  14. How about some nice Harley Davidson Rubber ones?

  15. Any ideas how much the Enduro pegs are?

  16. Just be aware the enduro pegs are not a straight swap ! You’ll need to order the enduro pedal springs too. Your pin is also thinner , so you’ll need a piece of 6 or 8 mm aluminium tube( can’t remember) from b & q to make a bush so it doesn’t slip about in the new pegs.
I say b and q because I tried other brands and this was the only place with the correct od.
Or you can just leave them pointing down slightly and baggy like most seem to.
Ps, don’t believe everything you read on forums lol
