Ryan Air Cabin Baggage Allowances

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by noobie, Jan 15, 2018.

  1. I'm sure a few fly ryan air but they have changed their cabin luggage allowance starting from today. You used to take your ruck sack or laptop or for the ladies a handbag on board. Then some started taking hese cabin sized suitcases as well .

From today only 1 item will be allowed to go into the cabin and they are insisting the second or more will now have to go into the hold unless you are using priority check in.

More of just an info share if anyone is using Ryan air any time soon

  3. Is ryanair trying to discourage customers from flying with them. They’re doing a good job if so.

  4. Never flown with them since a trip where they wouldn’t allow me on with the bottles of champagne purchased at duty free. Apparently they were a Health and Safety issue.... a Health and Safety issue that would go away if I paid them an extra £25. Needless to say I repacked my carry on to get the bottles on without the fee. However their demeanor and way they talk to you is shockingly rude. I’ll never use them for as long as I live.

  5. Probably no more than many other carriers. BA have been cutting back free in-flight refreshments and EasyJet have 2 carry on luggage sizes, only the smaller of which is guaranteed to be allowed on. Andy

  6. I am flying with them on Thursday from Bergerac to Stansted. The change will not cost any more.
If people feel that they do not want to fly with them then that is their choice, but for many of us they are far more convenient and cheaper than any alternative.
If i wanted to fly BA then there would be two round trips to Bordeaux airport for my wife 520kms and hours in the car, and around €250 for the round trip air fare. Plus €40 road tolls.
As it is I have a return ticket for €9.80 form an airport that is only 50 kms away.
I'll stick with Ryanair every time.
No one has to use them.

  7. I've always found them ok.
The reason for the luggage clamp down is because people were taking the piss.

  8. I always enjoy the argument, "No one forces you to do something".

As with the case of motor insurance - "No one forces you to buy car insurance. You can always not drive.".

It's a great device for furthering discussion, I find.

  9. I use Ryan Air quite regularly. I find the in flight sales of scratch cards most entertaining
    :)

  10. As with the East Coast mainline, nobody forces me to travel Virgin Trains... but as there's no alternative, they kind of do...

As with Humberside Airport, nobody forces me to fly with KLM... but as there's no alternative, they kind of do...

It's a funny kind of choice.

  11. Ryan Air are awful... their horrible blue and yellow colours, their stupid tooty horn when they arrive on time, their officious staff and their online man-trap of a website.

Sometimes though, they're several hundred quid cheaper or have exclusivity to a route. Caveat Emptor always applies with budget airlines though, as anyone who ever flew into Frankfurt Hahn or London Southend may attest to if they were expecting to arrive in either Frankfurt (I've fallen for that one) or London.

Flying is horrible these days, why anyone voluntarily does it for pleasure escapes me... but then S&M dungeons are baffling to me too.

  12. The difference in the way you are treated when using a ferry is staggering.
I Once got my dates wrong when booking a crossing and was expecting to have to pay a cancellation fee. Instead they refunded me the difference as it was cheaper to travel on the date I chose.

  14. The ferry does not go from Bergerac to Stansted for less than €10 return though.

  15. Why would anybody want to go to Stansted though? It's full of chav tourists. Perhaps you might enjoy Dover, Portsmouth or Hull much more? If not then you could try freight and head for Harwich or Tilbury.

  16. Love the boats, always prefer a long road trip whenever possible, just the pulling in at services and trying to communicate with Germans Austrians slovenians etc just meeting people fleetingly then back on the road armed with a coffee and a radio ....love road trips...I'm never in a rush or try not to be.
