This is surely misdirection. IRA members and Israeli soldiers did not and do not carry out military operations because their religious beliefs and holy books tell them they are obliged to. Muslims do. The difference is stark and obvious. Peoples' racial origins and ancestry are neither here nor there; it is their beliefs and their actions which count. That is where racists go wrong.
Ken, You seem to lump Leicestershire police together in the same way as you do Muslims and Asians. I can't speak for all of them, but the two that took me on a days safe riding course seemed perfectly open and reasonable, as does my local neighbourhood police officer. As are the ones who come to investigate local petty crime (albeit usually without success). By the very nature of their job, they are going to upset some peolple some of the time, but I cant help wondering whether the distrust of the two groups in your post are somehow related and personal.
Misdirection back to you Pete. The good book says they shouldn't do what the terrorist do.... it's the misaligned extremists that manipulate the poorly educated or easily influenced into action. If 1% of active Muslims acted against us we would be in real trouble. I'm sure you aren't of the mind that Islam is the enemy?
The IRA don't and have never carried out military operations full stop, because they are not soldiers. They are terrorists and their deeds are not military operations, they are crimes. They have that much in common with Islamists, whatever the motivation.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Good_Book_(book) I am fortunate enough to own a copy of The Good Book signed to me personally by the author, Prof A C Grayling. Or perhaps it was some other (not so good) book you had in mind? It is not necessarily wrong for people to fight for their country, for their homes, for their families, for their freedom, or for their lives. But it is always wrong to fight to enforce religious beliefs on others who do not share them. For all their faults, neither the IRA nor Israeli soldiers try to force others to adhere to their beliefs. Muslims however ... have you ever read anything at all in the Koran? Its message consists essentially of "kill the infidels" repeated many times over. Fortunately most Muslims never act on this, as you rightly say. The problem is that a few do - and they really are the enemy.
If you are going to define words like "soldiers", "terrorists", "military operations", and "crimes" in some special senses known only to yourself, you are like the caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland - words mean whatever you want them to mean. They do not however mean the same thing to anybody else.
"phrases make history here". i heard that used for the first time today in a speech. i like it. anyhoo.
I didn't ascribe any of them a definition, special or otherwise. I assumed most people would be familiar with the accepted definitions already. Why don't you share with us the non-existent new ones you think you've read between the lines, Mr Caterpillar?
It's up at 10-12°C, but rainy at the moment. Still a bit of salt on the road, so you don't want to get that Ducati flake, sorry paint anywhere near that.
yes you have completely ignored the elephant in the room and the underlying cause of a lot of these problems
Back on topic.... The local gossip suggests that it was an illegal vodka still that was attacked by a rival gang of illicit distillers. They wanted to set it on fire to put it out of action and used petrol. I'm guessing the results were more explosive than they intended. Why are the police keeping quiet about discolsing information? Well I'll leave that to the conspiracy theorists to elaborate.
