  1. Put one on a tiger 1050. Helps smooth the transition between no throttle and light throttle. It's subliminal, not a huge difference but I liked it. Pricey though.

  2. Read your thread, not so happy about the time it took to fit it though :(

  3. Yea, but remember it was the first time for me to take all the stuff off the bike. If I had to do it again it wouldn't have taken that long. I was being extra careful with being a Ducati bodywork Virgin. Could have fitted one on my Gixxer thou in about 30 minutes.

  4. Knowing how many times Ducati have updated the ECU maps over the last two years, this is about the last thing I'd ever consider plugging in.

  5. You gotta take the fuel tank cover off that's where the plug fits in near to the headstock. Bit of a PITA to do as is everything on a Ducati !.

As for ECU maps it has nothing to do with them ... All it does is drop the air temp reading from the sensor down a few degrees - ECU updates wont effect anything to do with the plug and vice versa.

  6. Allegedly, the "Booster Plug" works by effecting a richer fuel/air mixture.

So how do you know that a recent ECU update doesn't already have a strategy that has effected the same adjustment whilst relying on the data that the "Booster Plug" is fudging, namely air temp?

It might mean that your mixture gets even richer - assuming that the kludged data doesn't push the expected data "out of range", so I don't accept that "ECU updates won't effect anything do with the plug and vice versa", at all. There is every likelihood that if you put garbage in (kludged data) you'll get garbage out.

  7. I'm not going to get into a your right i'm wrong argument.

All I'll say is since I've had my bike and two ECU updates:

Booster plug off - Wooly running at low revs.
Booster plug on - Runs great.

  8. Cheers Rivercop.ive used them before so I might try one on the mutly.

  9. When a bike leaves the factory, it's already preset with a map that passes the legislative requirements for that country.

So, In essence, does that mean every update we get will make it shitloads better i.e. like a dyno remap?
It seems to me that's all any manufacturer would have to do...

There you go Sir, one shit running bike until you come in for a factory update...(Nudge, nudge, wink, wink)

I used to dyno set up many high end sports bikes inc BM's, Pani's, ZX10, R1's etc they all ran off at certain points but once custom mapped were completely different animals.

Never once did we have a single customer return and say my warranty's been invalidated...Not once.

I had a good many little extras on my old Mut up until recently too. One being very similar to a Booster Plug.
Each one added to the performance, not massively but noticeably & I will happily do the same again to my DVT.
My bike was, and still is, serviced by a main Duc dealer and never once (that phrase again) did they say my additions would invalidate my warranty.

If it works for some then fine.... Why opinionate on the rights and wrongs.

    Each to their own...

  10. is the plug i need straped to the fuel pipe on the right side.

  11. No. The plug you need it at the top edge of the airbox right near the headstock. ... Kind where the arrow goes. It's fiddly.

  12. Thanks I found it in the end just hadn't anticipated striping so much off...how did the pipe disconnect on the left hand side of the tank beside the plug ?

  13. Fuel feed pipe ? .... With much cursing. You gotta push it to release, then pull it ... No matter how many times I do it its not easy ... Sure I'm missing the easy way to do it.

  14. Oh, and while all the stuff is off your bike, take the change to grease all the electric plugs in there. Bit of preventative maintenance always wins.
