  2. Well, I foresee this thread ending well.

  3. I've seen car dealer sales jobs advertised at £12,000 a year for a six day week. They earn commission but you try saying that to a bank or letting agent when going for a mortgage/rental.

I expect bike sales is much the same... I'd love to know what a decent sales guy at a Ducati dealer makes???

  4. Not wanting to steal the thread, but, when did the minimum wage become the normal wage.

I know a large number of people, adults not "kids", that are working on minimum wage, some of these are in skilled jobs that in the past would have commanded a decent wage.

  5. A quote from Ducati Manchester to put the “Headline” story into context, and to offer a right of reply:

“This happened over two years ago. We employed someone who worked for us for 3 weeks.
This person had purchased some clothing but didn’t pay for it , so we deducted the cost of the clothing from their wages as we knew we wouldn’t get paid for it.
Unfortunately said person forgot about the items when they signed on unemployed and they told the unemployment office that’s all we paid them.
Ducati Manchester openly admit and now realise we shouldn’t have deducted the cost of the clothing from this persons wages - it was a mistake on our behalf.
Unfortunately this article is all about a headline and Ducati Manchester have paid the price for this.
We believe we are a great employer and if you look at our staff retention, staff morale etc you will understand we are not the big bad wolf as protrayed in this article.
Ducati Manchester agree that companies who underpay staff should be penalised and named and shamed.
Unfortunately as is always the case with these things it’s not the rogue employers who get caught out but people like ourselves, who we believe didn’t deserve this under the circumstances.”

  7. Lazy "Journalism" at best.

They have their headline, so I don't suppose they are bothered. However Ducati Manchester should rightly feel aggrieved. A quick phone call from the "Journo" could have clarified everything and stopped the non-story going to print.

  8. Indeed. Why let the truth get in the way of a good story eh.
