I know it’s easy to get the front mudguard off although I have not yet done it but can you easily separate the black centre bit from the coloured part which goes down the fork legs? In my hydrodipping posting I am getting on quite well with it and after I have finished the front sprocket cover and that other one on the side I may well give this part a dip. Carbon fibre finish I may add.
Yes it can be removed with a little care noting theres a wire that runs to a sensor on the front wheel via the undeside of the front mudguard - abs sensor I think ? Theres two allen key bolts on the rear black bit and four bolts on the main bit....oh and there's brake hoses to contend with at the rear as well. Good luck!
Be prepared to be frustrated ........ very frustrated. I have large hands (glove size 13) and I found getting at the 2 bolts holding the black plastic part to the coloured part challenging especially as the bolt heads are obscured by a brake pipe. Front ABS/traction sensor wire clips behind clips cast into the inside face of the coloured plastic. Enjoy Andy
I actually removed my front mudguard today for the first time (2013 Multi S). As mentioned above the two Allen bolts obscured by the brake lines/ sensor cables were the most time consuming. If you can undo the right one first as it has less cables covering it and then the four others you get it loose enough to move it around to get to the left one holding the black part to the coloured part and unclip the cables from underneath the mudguard. Also a squirt of some thing to help loosen them up as plenty of dried road crud was around mine.
