Termignoni full system vs end cans

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by mooberts, Apr 8, 2012.

  1. Hi all,

I'm hoping for a technical answer on the termignoni full system versus end cans (+ECU) discussion. I ride an '09 848 standard mainly on the road with 4 or 5 track days a year.
    So far I've searched and found the following statements;
    - End cans help/improve midrange
    - Full system gives better top end
    - Full system is quieter and sound is more 'pulsey'
    - Full system improves bottom end below 4000rpm
    - Full system makes bottom end worse for traffic/city riding.
    - Full system gives weight saving
    - Both options are ok for passing MOT

Not worried about price; I'll be buying second hand.

Interested in your feedback and especially from those who have experienced both.

  2. I had end cans, then went to the full system.

The full system definately changed the exhaust note, it became a lot deeper and does seam quieter because of this but it probably isn't.
The full system definitely saves weight, as the butterfly servo motor that you loose is as heavy as.
The full system also seams to make the bike rev more freely, but according to dyno figures I have seen, there is next to no difference in power.
Which ever you go for don't worry too much if they don't come with an ecu, as your own can be re-programmer to the DP map of the end can or full system at home on the cheap.
I've never had any problem with either in traffic, but with the system it feels smoother everywhere.

  3. I did the same as Anth. Had cans, then went to a full system. The bike is less lumpy round town now and a hell of a lot better below 4k.
I got the full system because I couldn't turn it down at the price I paid for it. It looks better too. Performance wise it doesn't really add any more. Some even say that better results can be had from cans and a good setup.
If you find a full system snap it up. They're discontinued now, like all the other 1198/ 848 accessories.
Both are only good for passing the mot if 'not for road use' is absent/ covered up.
What brand you thinking of going for?

  4. Thanks that's really useful stuff; will probably go with Termis but it will come down to the quality in the end.

  5. Ah....quality, hmmm well theres a thing....out of a box the termis are Sh*te.

They look like they were welded by a blind monkey.

They need a massive clean up and a dam good polish, used someone will have done the hard bit.

    You'll not regret it tho!

    Anth

  6. If you need a ecu for a full system (non-evo) I've just put one in the classifieds.

    Cheers

  7. I am thinking this, I have end cans, but want a full system. I want noise, deep evil devilish noise...

  8. I was unsure about they upgrade, a system came up n i thought I may as well try it. I've never looked back!

You won't regret it if you go for it, it's worth it for the sound alone, never mind getting rid of the servo.

  9. I'd keep that for a bit. All 848 stuff now discontinued so could be worth a bit more in the future!

  10. I see u do 4 or 5 track days per year.
My full system 848 was putting out 104 with the supplied db killers in (after backing off the revs ever so slightly.. Wink wink)
It worth bearing in mind as limits are lowering on some tracks, it ran lumpy & the db killers sort of defeat the object.

  11. Antiques Roadshow

  12. Thanks I hadn't considered that, I did read about some noise issues at Mallory and Donnington though.

  13. No Worries. On the other side of the equation when I took them off to sell it & put standard system back on it sounded bloody awful and was a pig in traffic again lol.

  14. Then you want a SPARK system, gazillion times better quality than Zard or Termi.........in stainless or full Ti.....

  15. I've never had any issues at Donny, and Nor has anyone else I've seen there using a full system. Sometimes they've/I've had to put baffels in. This has been on noisy (105Db) days. 98Db days I have seen them, but all they did on the ride by was ease off.

People sometimes get too obsessed with noise levels. You can test in one place using an app or whatever and think you're fine and fail at a track. It all depends on the day, where you are , whats around you and a host of other factors.

Two freinds of mine with Evo's fitted with akro's (cans) were close to the limit at Cadwell, but me when i had my Sil moto cans was fine.

What I'm trying to say is there are so many factors involved that what might be good on one day will fail on the next.

  16. Any idea where where he might get a Spark system from Dave?

  17. You're right Matt, but it's still a concern. No ones wants to pay for a track day only to be told to go home and only get a partial refund, if yr lucky!

I may have a go at Castle Doom this year, it's local enough to pop up and be tested prior to paying any lolly...:upyeah:

  18. I do Anth, yes.....Lol....

  19. Come on Dave, I know they sell themselves but a little bit of a sales routine wouldn't have gone a miss there.

  20. Its a hangover from the old Ducatisti days Anth...dare to mention a sales pitch and the whole thread would get pulled, locked, shutdown, and I'd be banned for a week......
