Well, I have taken the plunge and put a deposit down on a 1260s. Hopefully it will be ready to collect in a week or so It's my first Ducati and I have had have had various doom and gloom merchants telling how unreliable Ducati's are. Obviously I have looked into that as best I can. I am coming from an ultra reliable Yamaha Super Tenere which has not had a single issue in 30,000 miles over the last three years, so the Multistrada has a high bar to follow in that respect. You guys are the one's that know, so just how god or bad is the reliability on the bike? Either way I love the bike, it's been my dream to get one for some time and I can't wait to get it and nothing bad said is going to put me off! But it would be interesting to hear your views. Cheers. Should be all sorted by now. Contemplating only minor issues with electronics which will be solved by a software upgrade. Well done
I owned a Monster 900 Sie back in 2000 and it was made of cheese, built by monkeys and cost a fortune to maintain. Reliability and build quality were laughable. Having owned a 17 DVT for a year, 5000 miles and ridden it in all weathers I can state that Ducati’s have moved on, to a level akin to the Mainstream Japanese/European manufactures. Much better quality and parts. You’re going to love it!
Enjoy, you'll either be lucky or not, same as any other kit these days including Yam's, my mate wouldn't touch one ever again after his experiences with a new Fazer.
On my 4th MTS, my current 2017 DVT has 6500 miles on it and has been perfect in every way, my others all had the usual well catalogued niggles but never let me down, Ducati finally seem to have got there shit together... or I’m just lucky, either way don’t regret any of them. Just enjoy the bike
Congratulations on your new bike. 2015 dvt for me with only two factory recalls. The fuel sender and a radiator hose fixed under warranty. 17000 miles.
2016 enduro here. I had the left switchgear pack up and clutch slave cylinder leaking which needed replacement. Rear shock and hose pipe replaced under warranty. All minor niggles. Bike hasn’t let me down. Did I mention love the bike?
2016 DVT with now 10,500 miles, just about to change the 3rd set of tyres and 2 year annual service. Never let me down, had all the recalls done. I’ve found the Ducati dealership faultless to deal with regarding any issues. An impressive bike you’ve bought and I’m sure you’ll love the agility of such a big bike a lot more than the Yam. I still think it’s the No.1 in its class for looks and engine. The DVT takes some beating. Enjoy

I’m on my second set, at 10,500 miles. I’m off up Scotland in May and there’s not enough life to get there and back. I am a bit fussy with tyres, so once the back is getting close to the wear limit and the front has started to lose its profile they are changed. I always change in pairs, not into leaving the front for another 1000 miles etc. Nothing like new rubber to go away with
So it looks like about 5.000 miles ish tyre life then. I could get 8,000 out the old Tenere, but then there wasn't 160hp going through the back wheel!
Same story here... the change from BMW to Ducati was a nightmare because of all the negative comments about the bike. Ended up facing the fears after many hours reading this and other fóruns to have an idea what I was getting into. After 2 weeks with a 2016, I was sold as the bike was mega to drive... a true smiles machine. Ended up selling after 5 months of ownership and getting a 2017 model... will trade again soon for a used 1260 S
Exactly! The thing I have been missing in recent years was that smile factor. My Tenere is a great bike but just didn't hit the spot. One hour test ride on the 1260 and I had to have my grin forcibly removed by a physiotherapist
