Hi From Somerset

  1. Hi everyone.
I have had my 749s for about 11 years, now don't hate more for this but it has been under a cover in the garage for the last 6 :(. No major reason, just lots of little things that made me give up. This week i have decided it is time to raise the beast from hibernation and get it back on the road. It is going into the garage for a full spruce up and hopefully i will be ready for a glorious summer of riding.

I've already started reading up on what i've missed the last few years but any tips on how to treat the bike right after a long lay off will always be welcome.

Heres a picture as it looked as it rolled out of the garage for the first time in 6 years, not to shabby but do not look to closely, its gonna need some TLC.

  14. Lovely machine.
What have you done to it?
There are a number of common mods but the one I would recommend first is to get a starting circuit cable kit from @Exige on here.
The standard cables are notoriously inadequate from new and only get worse with age.
A cable kit teamed up with a new Yuasa AGM battery absolutely transformed the starting of my 999 from slow and reluctant to instant and totally reliable.
Best money I've spent on the bike

  15. Thanks, I have literally done nothing to it apart from the putting a seat cowl on it.
I think it needs a lot of basic work to get it running sweet again, a few pipes look a bit dodgy and obviously needs full belts, oils, filters, tyres, battery and more to get going again. Once that is sorted the mods can start, Obviously if i can upgrade as we go then i might as well.
