I know Rob is 'on' this particular one as it's becoming a regular occurrence. Don't know if it coincides with peak traffic maybe - I think yesterday broke another record for 'most people for some of the time' or similar..
How do you mean? Just that the page wouldn't load? Cos that's what happened for a while last night, to me.
Basically something is crashing on the server (Apache) and this causes the blank threads. It's REALLY difficult to identify what causes it. We've tried turning some things off to stop it but it it seems that is not helping. There are a few more things to try, hopefully these will work. It could be peak traffic related but the server should be able to hand a huge amount of traffic. Cheers. Rob.
A bit more info Rob.....might or might not help. When the forum goes pear shaped, you can still start and post a new thread, you just can't view any and thus not reply to any threads that are already started. The chat room still works when the forum is down. And your new classified section still works when the forum is down.
Check the apache logs to see if you need to up your thread count or number of child processes during peak times.
Was doing this again this morning from 7 gave up at 9 :-( Click on thread and nothing Couldn't access the safari site either
Going to try somethings this evening to troubleshoot it. May be some intermittent performance whilst changing a few things. Rob.
