What do people use to stop the front axle spinning on a 1299 Panigale when refitting the wheel after a tyre change?
Why do you need a tool ? You just nip the axle nut up so it is fully located in the fork bottoms, then you do the fork pinch bolts up on the non nut side to the setting torque (19Nm ?) which will hold the axle whilst you torque the axle nut (63Nm ?). Not had the axle rotate on my 748R, 853 track bike, Multistrada 1200 or 1098R (all Ohlins forks) using this method. Andy
Ohlins or Marzocchi? For Ohlins I use the pinch bolts on the bottom of the fork leg. Assemble hand tight. Do up the pinch bolts on the side opposite the nut. Torque the nut. Do up the pinch bolts on the same side as the nut. Loosen the pinch bolts on the opposite side. Bounce the forks up and down to allow the spindle to find the right position within the fork leg. Re-tighten the pinch bolts on the opposite side. I guess everyone knows not to over-tighten the pinch bolts?
Thanks for the help guys. I did it by tightening the pinch bolts but saw there was a tool and I like tools you can never have too many tools
