I'm new to all these Ducati stuff, so excuse me if the question has already been answered. I'm trying to understand what "up map key" actually is. For now, I'm reading controversial info. 1. It contains a race (or whatever it's called) map that can be uploaded to an ECU via DDS. 2. It contains an unlock code that allows Ducati dealer to unlock an ECU and upload a map FROM DDS. 3. It contains an unlock key that allows Ducati dealer to activate already PRELOADED IN ECU race map. Thanks
Nothing controversial. It just allows the dealer to unlock the map upgrade that is already in the ECU. These all get updated regardless when the bike is serviced and plugged into the central systems.
Hyper is disagreeing with me so maybe he knows something I dont but yes thats my understanding. It's irrelevant really anyhow; it's a code that unlocks the map one way or another. When you remove the exhaust system you get the dealer to put it back on the 'usb' stick.
Thanks for the replies! Is it possible to buy up map key without Termignoni exhaust? If not, is there any other legal (warranty friendly) way to unlock ECU and load a race map? I'd like to get a full exhaust system, but I hate the look of Termi pipe. I'd like to go with Akrapovic titanium headers and slip-on. Here's the example from Aprilia: an unlock code comes only with Aprilia's Akrapovic exhaust, but you can always buy an unlocked ECU from Aprilia and use any exhaust you want and do not void a warranty. Is there something similar in Ducati world? Or if you want a full system your only option is Termignoni, or lose a warranty. That seems to be very stupid of Ducati....
I'm not aware of anything official. Most people will just take it to someone like CJS racing or Motorapido to get it mapped, and worst case get the original map put back if necessary in the future. I guess its your risk but I've never heard of anyone having problems from doing it.
Contact Termignoni to see if they plan to release the T800 UpMap Device for your Multi http://www.up-map.it/en/t800/ http://www.up-map.it/en/contact-us/
I think it’s a licencing issue between Ducati / termi. A code will only work on 1 bike at a time and that code comes with a purchased system, so I wouldn’t hold much hope of someone having one for sale. As far as I’m aware, no ones mapped the 1200 dvt properly yet, let alone the 1260 ?
They do come up from time to time as many people will buy the system and then take the bike to be mapped properly instead of using the UP key map.
I contacted Dave @ Rexxer and he confirmed that he can upload a map (and disable exhaust valve) on 1260. Seems like it's my only option at the moment.
Does it mean that Up key map does not have to be 1260 specific? Actually, that refers back to my original question - what Up Map Key actually is
Video is fake, can only be done via dealer or as post 9 says by . Multistrada is a different bike .Buy the proper exhaust and cut the bit off you don’t like
It's funny, "royalwithcream", that you're saying "Nothing controversial", Let's see: Option #1: "Sotos christou" Option #2: "Hyperextended" Option #3: "royalwithcream" but changed his mind to option #2 All that makes me think that nobody knows for sure what "Up Map Key" actually is... And thanks "Hyperextended" for the great advice: "Buy the proper exhaust and cut the bit off you don’t like" (I assume, you meant Termignoni, right?)! May I suggest you to shell out $2500 for something you don't really like???? Akra is the best exhaust, much more superior to Termignoni. It's full titanium and looks way better than this ugly Termi pipe (although, that might be subjective). And I'm asking for a very simple thing - how can I legally use it on my bike without voiding the warranty???
Can I change my mind ? I think it might be option 1 or 3 You’d probably be best in speaking to the Ducati factory direct, as all we know is what the mechanics tell us at the dealers ? Ps, I meant just swap the end can over. And the final answer to your question is “you can’t “
For the Scrambler I was told the Up map key swaps the standard map for the race map - every time you plug the key into the bike and the ducati software does the map swap between teh key and the bike - utilising the serial number of the ECU for the swap back... But as Hyper said - maybe all except the Ducati one will invalidate the warrantee..... But you pays your money - takes your chance... As been suggested - the Termi is also Titanium - so you could use that and then swap the extra can across from the Acro - assuming its the same diameter?? Some do not use a map at all when they fit the Arrow systems - without CAT to the DVT... As has been also said - Rexxer were doing a Map - but there was a lot of noise at the beginning - but not heard of anyone actually doing it... but I may have missed them posting here if they had...
As above when i purchased the full Termi system , i was told that the dongle which you keep, switches the up map with standard map which is now on the dongle. When or if you remove the system you give them the dongle & they put original map back on bike & race map back on dongle. That was Ducati Leeds. Either way it turns the bike in to a fun pop bang machine. Blackens & sometimes melt you number plate though, but small price to pay.
