  1. Hi there, I seem to have broken my alternator cover trying to remove it, does anyone know of any one selling a decent one?
    Cheers everyone.

  2. can it not be fixed welded/tig up by a professional:thinkingface:

  3. I'm not sure? I'll post up a picture, its broken clean across.

  4. Result of missing one of the screws when removing!

  5. scary........ but speak to a local exact weld metal fabricator:thinkingface:

  6. I will do, thanks for the advise, I'll ask around at work.

  7. That fooked imho. If it doesn’t distort when welding it’ll have to be machined flat. Big job.

  8. Been there, done that - it is the screw by the side of the clutch push rod which when full of chain goo is invisible.
Lucky it is not one of the early ones with the drain pipes from the cylinders which are virtually unobtainable. You should find one on e bay, welding that one will be expensive and the gasket face will be compromised locally by weld bead so will definitely need machining, also it is likely that across the whole gasket face the casting will bow either side of the repaired crack, machining it flat across the whole face may also lead to alternator rotor / retaining nut clearance issues
