  1. Deals, this is a bit of a long stretch, but check the rear brake light switch.
My mate had this. The switch was sticking and gave the CEL. I pointed out his brake light was on. He cleaned the switch and all was good after that.
The ecu has Limited ways to show a fault, so the CEL gets displayed for all sorts of non engine related issues.

The abs sensor is another one to check, because traction control and abs is effectedif the bike can't determines speed. In may my mates speed triple wore through its abs cable, and this gave all sorts of warning lights and running problems.

    Hope that helps.

  2. Sadly that's not necessarily true.

My ducatis have always got me home despite a few issues over the last 20 years I've owned them.
My Honda however have left me stranded in France, Spain, and budapest. Many friends have had regulator issues with them, and more recently ignition switch failures.
I have to agree about the grin factor though :)

  3. Dealy -
I have been reading your thread regarding the MTS Engine Error light on the dash.... Today i decided to get my 2014 MTS pikes peak out - all kitted up and BANG the dreaded Engine Error light on the dash.... the bike runs fine no issues no loss of power however don't like the idea of a warning light.. I took it to Manchester Ducati but unfortunately the earliest they can get it in for its annual service and fault diagnostic is August 20th (the date also has to fit with-my work schedule) - So i was wondering what you have managed to get done with yours and the Engine Error light.. Was this something you managed yourself ? i have checked the usual after reading the threads...The Exhaust valve is all ok as like yours removed as full Termi and decat pipe.. however i have checked the Servo this is operating without issues .. Also was wondering if there is any type of self diagnostic tool like OBD2 reader and software that you know or anyone know about?? Any information or assistance will be very much appreciated as August is a long way off.. Cheers Simon..

  4. See the other recent thread about obd software.
Buy a lead and download the software, and you should be able to read the fault codes.
