Stuck Lambda Sensor.

  1. Hi all.

Finally got a chance to attack the heatshield on my 1199. Has to cut and grind out the heads of the bolts they were so corroded, previous owner didn’t care much for the bike I think. Anyway the shield is now loose but the lambda sensor is stuck. I’ve soaked it in plus gas overnight, but it won’t budge. I’m not being stupid with it, it’s lefty loosy yes? Are these commonly stuck? How did you all get them off?

My spanner is 10” long, I may have to extend it. If it breaks is it a major part to replace? Not bothered, it’s a long term rebuild of a bike that needs some love.

If anyone knows of a Termi system in good condition shout. Can’t afford the new cost.

  2. You need to apply lots of heat at the boss then give the "nut" part a crack with a hammer and a cold chisel on the flat of the "nut" then repeat on the next flat, it needs a sharp but not full force crack better less than more. Then use the spanner, preferably a ring or the ring of a combination spanner if you can get it over the sensor head, you may have to give the spanner a sharp crack as well.

  3. Got it off. In the end I wrapped it in workshop tissue and soaked it in Plus Gas. Left it a few days and it came out fine.
