998 Magnesium Side Covers.

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by bettes, Aug 10, 2018.

  1. evening all

Nothing much going on at work today so set about fitting some magnesium side covers to the engine, replacing the corroded bolts with titanium jobbies and a general clean up around the engine. Also fitted a full set of new O rings between the side covers and cylinders.
Reading up a bit, seems like these mag jobbies can be prone to leaking coolant after a few months fitted.
Has anyone fitted these to their bike and had any problems with leaking coolant?

    Cheers, Ian

  2. They look like ones fitted to 749R cylinders. Never had a problem with coolant leaks on mine.

  8. Got the DP mag clutch cover on a few months ago. Waiting to pick the mag head covers up off Tom.
It’s 3 phase mine so no mag alternator cover unless an NCR one pops up! (Fat chance). :)

  9. Nice one. Cheers @Mr.R
Also while we’re at it, would you recommend using a bit of 3 bond on the matching faces?
