  1. hi all i bought some standard45mm alloy termis listed as 916/748 parts a couple of years ago but i didnt get brackets with them , ive just got some brackets to go with them from ebay which were listed as std 748 items but they seem too short to fit round the cans ? does anyone know if the std rear alloy termis came in differant external sizes on the 748/916 range please ?

  2. This may sound ridiculous but how too short are they ? My experience with the brackets on the 998 is that they are bloody fiddly and do seem slightly too short, but a bit of swearing and sodding about later you can get the bolts through and all is fine.

  3. Yes I agree. After putting them on, it looks like there may be a gap of even up to 10mm but they soon tighten up OK

  4. as above - and they are clamped up with little dumbell/spacers between them, i.e. the clamp faces don't meet each other.

  5. these are more than a tight fit ive even tried an extra long bolt to make it easyer to get the ends together but once i start nipping it up the ends of the brackets start bending it seems like the straps are 30/40mm short and thats without the rubber inserts on ! iam thinking they must have changed the bracket or can sizes over the years or models

  6. I agree with you, I had some for trackdays and the 97 748 ones were way too short. The Termi branded exhausts are slightly longer too but bigger in diameter, way beyong stretching!

  7. When the 996 was introduced it used fatter/longer cans than 916/748 for better silencing, maybe the later model 748 also used them?

  8. problem solved!! a mate has just brought me some brackets from his std 748r and they fit perfect !! there must be two differant size cans/bracket combos, my cans are 13cm wide 10cm high and 40cm outer circumferance
