Now I usually use the scooter to commute to work, but because I had to run a few errands tonight, I took the car in. Started it this morning and it took a few goes to fire. It has an auto start function, but a press of the start / stop button and it quickly turns over and starts usually. When it did start at the 3rd attempt, it rumbled at idle, like it was running on 3 cylinders. I put it down to not being used for a few days, but on the way to work it was juddering and dying if I was lightly pressing the throttle to maintain speed. It ws fine if accelerating and off throttle, but it was juddering so much at cruise I thought I'd do some damage, so tried to accelerate and slow down all the way there, or try to keep the engine under load if possible. Anyway, come out tonight and the car takes about 6 goes to fire. As soon as I press the throttle, it stalls but I left it at idle for a minute and once it warmed up I could pull away and drive it, but it was still juddering when cruising. It's also 'pinking' when under light throttle. The engine management light come on on the way home (a red one) but I get it home and park up. I'll scooter to work tomorrow and get them to come and get it (company car). It's a year old diesel with about 4k miles on it, still new really. Anybody had anything similar? Oh, I filled it the day before I parked it up and only live about a mile from the fuel station, so my money is on that, but I don't know why it'll accelerate and idle OK, but is difficult to start and will not cruise. Plus I've heard of bad petrol, but not bad diesel. Stumped.
I've never owned a diesel car but bad diesel certainly exists in the marine world. Ask anyone with a yacht.
2017 Qashqai 4WD 1.6 Diesel. I know it looks a bit like a Streetfighter. But I believe that has nothing to do with my issue.
Diesel particulate filter - DPF - if its short journeys modern diesels are nt happy. But bad fuel is a good call with the low mileage - best of luck
I did think that the fuel flow and air flow might not be aligned. So air flow snesor or throttle actuator related.
I'll take it to work and get them to sort it. Company car benefits. I was just curious about the problem.
I've done about 30 miles in it today and filled it up when empty. I think it would have conked out completely if that were the case.
