  3. I never was a Porsche man, but have really come round in the last few years.

I've never owned one though, probably never likely to.

    Lovely cars there. :upyeah:

  8. Apparently you can tell an early Porche driver, he's the one with a twitch in his neck waiting for the arse to overtake the front :scream:

    I'm only jealous :)

  10. Nipped our in mine today. Still amazes me how easy and solid the drive is for a 20 yr old car

  11. A friend of mine has a 911 Turbo S. It's a bit nippy alright. He's had loads over the years and wouldn't look at anything else.

  14. Rob,I agree with you on this one as i just love the racing history and styling and my parents back in the eighties had a his and her 911 1989/964 1990 in guards red/black leather and red piping interior:upyeah:also i have been to the museum in Stuttgart with some friends and worth a visit, unfortunately the factory was closed for the summer holidays:(

  15. So is yours a 993? I'm another Porsche guy: mine's a 1996 car and you can still drive them as they should be driven. Lovely cars.

  16. Love the old chrome bumpered 911s, and that black car looks stunning. Could you tell if it's a back-date? Those rear bumpers are not the originals. Not that it matters to the drive!

  17. Mines a 996, 1998 very early one.

  18. Nice, they're looking more classic these days don't you think? Cleaner lines than the later cars. I've read the 3.4 engine is a lovely drive... I'd contemplate one... thinking of selling my 993 as I don't use it much...

  19. Try mine sometime if we ever meet up

My first sports car, and if it want for the mpg I reckon I could easily use every day

  20. Thanks Bradders, might well take you up on that. The 993 is capable of being an everyday car if you don't care about the values, but mine's far enough below 100k miles to think twice. I find the car is lovely, but actually not that fast by modern standards. I get much more of a buzz riding the Ducati 996! But a Porsche 996 could well be an everyday drive, albeit as you say a bit thirsty.

How do the interiors wear? I've read they are a bit fragile, not quite up to the 993 build quality and materials. I've seen some very tatty 996s inside. There's also the known engine issues, but they would likely be fixed by now. It's tempting...
