Everything in moderation and keep yourself busy/brain active and you will get to see a hundred.... or maybe not
I do agree with you partly, because there are still a lot of miserable bastards walking the planet with those two boxes already ticked.
Get yourself a tracker that links with Strava. Don't worry about accuracy, just improve on the previous weeks data. I use a Garmin vivosport, Garmin 800 and a Wahoo Kikr indoor trainer and a couple of bikes all linked online to Zwift, Garmin Connect and Strava. I walk a lot at work and there are plenty of stairs. If you want to go the whole hog, get a food tracker app - but I woudn't bother. I work in a hospital by the way. Remember that waistline is not a real measure of fitness. You can be overweight and fitter than someone skinny. If calories in are less than calories out, you will lose weight. If you do that by any exercise, you get the added bonus of cardio, better flexibility, maintain muscle and bone density etc. Eat what you want, just remember to put the miles in to beat the intake calorie count. Good luck!
I race MX as much as I can, in between injuries lol, knees and ribs got few digs this year. Occasionally go to gyms, circuit training type places, but I just find exercise boring, hate it. Much prefer to get on a track, but finding time to practice is difficult.
The thing is I did fill it in truthfully. It just goes to prove it’s all shite My grandad died aged 97. He stopped smoking at 91 for the good of his health
What a load of effluent that test is! Change all your numbers to ideal (weight blood pressure etc) and yet the numbers don't change... From the Telegraph: "The test was described as terrific by Health Secretary Matt Hancock. He said: “Today I used the NHS Heart Age tool from @PHE_UK to find out how old my heart is. Says my heart is 40 – a month older than me. Must do more exercise!” Then Dr Goldacre, director of the Evidence-Based Medicine DataLab at Oxford University, recently appointed by Hancock to lead a new advisory board which will highlight the best ways to use technology and data in health. “This test is ridiculous,” he said. “There are 8.7 million people in the UK in their 30s. This PHE ‘heart age’ tool seems to be incorrectly telling them ALL to go to their GP to get their cholesterol checked. “If only one in 100 do so, that’s 87,000 pointless GP consultations,” he tweeted just hours before his appointment as Mr Hancock’s adviser was announced, later describing the plans as “just silly”.
Re that test, the stupid woman Dr promoting it suggested everyone, and she said everyone, go see their doc for a check up. And it was ok to overload the gp’s with this. Like the waiting lists aren’t long enough for those with really something wrong.... If you’re fat, have been pretty much your entire adult life, you will always be fat. No point fighting it, just aim for as much fitness as you need to do what you want. You will never be thin.
49 Here. Always been active....not over the top but, i do like my food...i have a mate who is a personal trainer...won mr Britain a few times so he knows his stuff...the first thing he says is...forget about your weight...its how your clothes fit... Never done the whole drinking thing...ever...spent my early years in skate parks and on anything with wheels....skates, ice skates, bmx's, overlayed with that from 14 up til about 22 most of my evenings were spent in the local ice rink. 22 to 28 was occupied with bikes 28, up til present day has been families, house renovating, bikes the usual stuff. in the last 15 8 of that was spent riding push bike to work (120 miles per week)....gave that up as i spent more and more time looking after them and ploughing money into them. About 5 years ago i did p90x got from my portly 15 stone down to about 13...but, it was no fun....rabbit food for 3 months and hard exercise.... After that finished. i wound it back a bit, so now, i exercise 5 days a week, about 30 mins doing different stuff every day, weights, treadmill and alternate. On the weekends i make sure im active around the house, mow the lawn, wash the car regularly, etc etc and if i dont do that sunday we go out for a couple of hours and walk. Now the winter is back (sort of) we start going to the ice rink on sundays. Met my wife at the local rink when i was 18 so we can both skate. Ive not lost any of my balance and can still skate at the same speeds i did when i was 18, the only difference is i dont have the stamina to keep going for as long as i used to... Diet: eat salads during the week at work and generally am good but again, wind it back on the weekend...dont pig out but i dont worry either... Net result is i think im in quite good health, i usually get guessed at 10 years below my actual age and my wife at 46 got asked for ID a couple of months back when she was ordering drinks (she was well chuffed about that)... I tend to sit at around 15 stone, back off holiday wifey just threw away the last pair of swim shorts which are ancient and i still fitted into them. So, while not looking like Mr Universe (far from it) ive got a fair level of health i think... This weekend: Washed the car yesterday, today, mowed the lawn, trimmed hedge (50 odd ft) stripped the hyper down and fitted ear splitting horn)....Sunday lunch earlier, sat down, cup of tea bit of cake...that'll be enough for the day...
I'm getting a lot of swipe lefts..... It's a bit like when when I wrote to I knew I shouldn't have included a photo....
Watched a program last year on the BBC which essentially said, no need to go to the gym....just be more active round the house as it probably burns just as much, hence my weekend activity....Next month itll go into overdrive as we'll across the road every weekend during october pulling ceilings down, knocking plaster work off the walls and lifting floors at the mother in laws house...
General activity is key. The local WAGS at my gym have a personal training session for an hour in the morning & then literally do f all for the rest of the day. Lunch, gossip, dinner, gossip - repeat. Tbf , they do open their legs twice a week to burn some calories ( not necessarily for their husbands - but the personal trainers always seem super fit & motivated though - just coincidence).
Yeah...doing a desk job for me doesnt help, but, rather than phone people i try to go to their desks to sort stuff out....
Yes and no....ill be moving some lights around, maybe one socket....ill be doing a fair bit of network cabling more than anything else...
Whats the name of this stupid woman? I only know the names of the stupid Health Sec Matt Hancock and Professor Jamie Waterall who promoted it.
