@AirCon small steps mate. Just cut down a bit and up the exercise a bit. Nothing major. If you and the misses have a Keema Naan each, have 1 and share it. If you normally have large cod and chips, have a medium cod and small chips. Switch to slimline tonic in the gin and maybe have a single not a double. Small steps. Most people put on weight and loose fitness over 20 years and expect to fix it in 6 months, will never happen long term. Think "Is it actually worth it" when eating the slice of Costa cake? Generally, it really isn't. Drink water, shit loads of water, actually, even more than that. Whatever you do DO NOT try to eat 2000 calories a day! If you are overweight your basic calorie needs will be far higher. You'll go into starvation mode and start craving shit foods. Small steps. Good luck.
Hey......you’re a contractor.......of course you have a 9 day week. Every contractor I know invoices 9 days work in a week.
First you have to decide what your goals are. Mincing about on a treadmill twice a week and changing nothing else in your life (drinking/smoking/stuffing your pie hole) is a complete waste of time and money. Planning your finances for retirement is one thing, but you need to get there fist.
FFS...... House prices plummeting.... £35,000 this year alone.... I can't afford to retire....... on sales calls right now.... get some of that replaced.... then I'll relax
I recently discovered open water swimming, it’s miserable, but I love it for some reason. Turns out you can be a fat cvnt and still swim at a decent pace. In order to swim the channel being a fat cvnt is actually a mandatory requirement - skinny people get cold and die.
AC - agree with your original post. Until 18 months ago I was in a similar position but a 4 week period off work forced me to take stock. I was overweight, drinking too much, stressed through work, worrying about stuff I couldn't control, not getting enough exercise, shouting at the kids, kicking the cat etc etc. Not a good place to be at 57. Put a plan together - I joined a proper gym (ie group sessions of about 5-12, led by a proper trainer) - focus on cardio and core body strength and posture - attend 4 hourly sessions a week with like minded others and burn around 900 calories per session. This is not a "hang around chatting" gym! Cycle to work, when possible - 8 miles each way. Have put a retirement plan in place and hope to finish within 2 and a bit years (or sooner, if possible!). Get out and socialise more with friends - 2-3 times per month - an easy thing to miss but so beneficial! Hardest part has been reducing alcohol intake (mostly beer and wine) - now limited to weekends and in moderation. Now feel much fitter (not lost significant weight, but much more toned) and have a brighter outlook on life and can see the plan progressing. Single biggest tip - put a plan together, without one, you're lost and directionless.
I disagree, but, in the nicest way....i have no plan but just treat exercise as "something that needs to be done"....Ie "that thing i need to get done.." ill be doing tonight when i get home, once thats done i can sit down....
Greedy with food and money I see If I had your wings I would retire today and move out of that shit hole and into the country. Gotta be cruel to be kind sometimes
