May be, after BREXIT settles, the third runway is started and the Elizabeth line is open.... I'll have a quick count up and see what's in the little piggy.
Dude.... you've a whole Motorcycle museum and you keep buying.... it's habit forming. And this thread is about fitness, not money or retiring...... you side tracked me.....AGAIN!
We are all fit in our own ways Fuck it AC just live your life It can be snatched away just like that I’m trying to put on weight
Try Guinness..... it works, but you really have to keep at it to see any gains..... I think you're fit Db.....
You don't need to fast or stave. Anyone with 1/2 brain knows knows the difference between shit food and a good clean diet. You don't have to suffer!
Doesn’t work for fat people. You need a plan that is committed too and regular until you feel more guilty not doing it than you do going to the pub and having half a dozen Guinness
Eat less. Eat better. Drink less or dont drink at all. Drink more water. Honestly, this is key. Steal excercise where you can. I walk 15m per week for free by just walking to work. I get extra by not taking tube in that London as places are closer than you think. Do stretches. This is important. Stretches are easy to do and easy to find time for. When I am making a cuppa in morning I do the squat, legs spread and praying whilst I await my toast. Doing little bits here and there helps. Stretches I find the most important. Theyre easy to do and easy to find the odd few minutes.
Sorry - still disagree.....its down to the commitment of the person....and the mentality. What im saying works for me is....treat it as a chore that has to happen no matter what. As for the drink side - that seems to be the bain of most of the people on here posting...not an issue for me as i dont drink...it is, i will say for food (i really do like my food!) but if i slip during the week i know that "extra chore" has to be carried out on the weekend, be it washing the car, hoovering the whole house etc etc...
It's been good reading this thread, some great comments. Lets all be honest, there is no magic cure, silver bullet or pill ...... it's basic knowledge that we all have, but, lack the time / motivation to do it. Eat less, eat better, drink less alcohol, don't smoke and be more active, everything in moderation. I've just had a major health scare at 51, the kind that not everyone survives My job is very sedentary, for 30 years I've either sat at my desk, sat in front of someone else's desk, or been driving to sit in front of a desk. Over the years my diet has got worse, the portions have got bigger and my appetite for alcohol has increased. Even though I know the right things to do, I've always blamed my life style, both in and out of work, for not doing the basics. I'm now 3 1/2 weeks into my new life, it's not a case of doing a diet, or fad exercise for me. I have to find things I can do, that will be easy for me to adopt and integrate in to my normal life. Prepare and cook a batch of healthy food every 3 or 4 days, keep it in the fridge, so that I have something good to eat when I want it. I'm not one for spending hours each day preparing meals, I like (and need) convenience. Walk, one of the best and easy forms of exercise, and its free. Walk for 30 mins at least 5 times a week. Aim to get up to 2 miles per day, 5 times a week. No alcohol in the house, but, I do have Becks Blue in the fridge, which helps with the craving to have a bottle of beer some nights. I have been out a few times in the last 3 weeks, had a few drinks rather than my usual skin full. Had a curry or 2, but not had all the extra's that I normally would. So I am still living a life, I've not become a hermit, only eating salad leafs. Already I've dropped 8lb, I'm tracking my walking using an APP and can see that I'm building up the distance and pace each week. I have no choice but to do this and make these changes my new life style. If you get the chance, make a few small changes now, before the changes are forced on you .... or before its just too late.
Unless you have been there, you can’t imagine to know. Heard it all before...Katie Hopkins types...blah blah..eat less do more... Personnaly I had to live like a f*cking hermit and exercise like an athelete for an hr and half 5 to 6 days per week to maintain 16st, and couldn’t lose another pound no matter what I did and was only eating 2k cals pd (6 days over week) for 2 years But yeah all fat people are greedy, deserve what they get, should be put in a case in the corner and forgotten..blah blah blah
Doc told me go out for a walk 3 times a week for one album, a 30-40 minute period on the old pod of i . It's starting to work
Tried that stuff, maybe if you like Becks its OK but I couldn’t stand the stuff! Bleugh Be nice if they could produce al-free that tasted good
And while I’m out of the box and on it, size is no determiner for fitness. Being fit is very different to be thin or ‘looking’ healthy I was running 10k every 2 days and 5k the other 3 days Mon-Fri and still looked a fat bastard. But could run up 22 flights of stairs as quick as ,most, have a resting heart rate of low 50’s, Lowe end blood pressure and low cholesterol. Not everyone is the same. Steps down.
I'm lucky. I'm generally slim by genes. My wife prepares healthy food and now that I excercise and drink plenty of water, i feel the benefit. But I imagine it would be a totally different ball game had i been overweight to start with. But I dont overeat and never have. Luckily I eat modestly. (except with biscuits). Our sedentary lifestyles play their part. No one walks anywhere these days and Im as guilty as everyone else at times.
I do agree about the Becks Blue, but I "needed" something. Tried a few over the last few weeks, Bud drinker for 35 years. Have recently tried Bavaria, which is better for me. Tried al-free red wine at the weekend, now that is rank and got tipped straight down the sink. By the way, my BMI is 34 - Obese, so I do understand about being a "fatty", I have no will power, hence not having alcohol / chocolate etc in the house is the only way I can stop myself eating / drinking my self to an early grave.
Just to jump to the other thing....time....another of the issues here and being an owner of 3 children and a full time job etc etc etc....going to the gym soaks up more time than most people think....ie...to do your "exercise" you have to... 1. Get in the car/walk/get there (time taken) 2. Do you workout.... 3. Go through the rigmarole of getting back out of the gym 3. Get home Now, i used to do that....so a workout effectively wipes out most of the night (times that by 3 or 4)...say you and the other half are doing that...and cant do it together, you'd hardly see each other...(some might like that)...not for me though.... I get home, stick the bike in the garage and before anything else happens i go upstairs, hop on the treadmill, get the weights out, whatever and do my time (im planning on 45 mins on the treadmill tonight, 600 calories which ever comes first) - get in the shower, done...
