  1. just home, greeted by the white envelope from Northants constabulary.....Dual Carriageway between Silverstone and Towcester 84mph, hardly pushing it!!

  2. Wasn't the race more than 14 days ago? or is this just one of your random ones :D

  4. I was at BSB, the irony is we got complimentary tickets from Silverstone!!

  5. Been to watch various bike and car races over the last 6 years at Silverstone and have seen static partnership vans and police cars taking advantage of the unwary every time until we started to arrive and leave through Dadford. Andy

  6. Seems it was a 20 20 laser sited on a tripod, from the photos at 330m he was on a bridge on the opposite side to the direction of travel, so well hidden......bastard that’s all I have to say!

  7. Is the 14 days thing still valid for receiving NIP ?

  8. I believe so. Andy

  9. Yup

  10. They only have to prove that they sent it to arrive within 14 days. If postie skives off sick and no mail is delivered that day, you can't use it as an excuse.

  11. Beckham is currently attempting to have his speeding case thrown out due to the notice not arriving within 14 days. Google it and you will find all the info confirming that NIP must be with you by 14 days. The case will be interesting.

  12. Will you get offered a speed awareness course?

  13. Apparently not due to the “excessive” speed (above 80mph)

  14. Very harsh ... all depending on your record over the last 3 years.

84mph in the car on the A47 near Norwich = speed awareness course for me. When I looked in to it, the general rule was speed limit + 10% + up to 9mph = Speed awareness course. This was about 4 years ago. I had not been done for speeding, or been on a course, in the previous 3 years.

That said, I do think the courses are offered at their discretion.

  15. Taken from the Northampton Police web site ...

Can I take a SAC instead of a fine or penalty points?

In all likelihood, yes - they are available to drivers exceeding the speed limit up to 42 in a 30mph limit, up to 53 in a 40mph limit, up to 64 in a 50mph limit, up to 75 in a 60mph limit, and up to 86 in a 70mph limit who have not already attended nor are currently waiting to attend a National course for a previous offence within the last 3 years. The course must be completed within 5 months of offence.

How do I request to attend a SAC?

First of all you need to return the NIP confirming that you were the driver at the time of the alleged offence. Subject to eligibility checks and time permitting to complete the course within 5 months of the alleged offence, we will send you a Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty, which will include the offer and information about how and where you can attend.
