Good old Henry Winkler I used to love Happy Days. A time when life was a lot more simple. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowb...-win-Barry-old-Happy-Days-pal-Ron-Howard.html
We are supposed to live in more enlightened times..... that would make Happy Days impossible to make these days, or, at least, shown in Britain. Great thing progress isn't it? Not very funny though....
Funny how life changes though. Watching Happy Days and later Miami Vice I wouldn’t have even dreamed of being able to go to America. After numerous trips there I’m totally over the place.
Ahh, Miami Vice. That brings back memories. Does anyone know of a channel or website that shows all of this stuff? Going back further, does anyone remember the test films that used to be shown on BBC2 in the 60's? This was before there was any day-time TV and we just had the test card interrupted by these films. Two that I distinctly remember are one about a petrol filling station in Italy - where a British family stop outside and make tea to drink; and the other was based in Australia where a Brit comes over to co-drive a Cattle train. That is a lorry pulling multiple trailers of cattle. Nobody, that I have spoken to knows WTF I am talking about but I am sure that I didn't dream it!
• Cattle Carters (1962) Australia; where cattle are transported in giant trucks. An uptight Englishman and a laidback Australian set out on a 760 mile journey through some of the toughest country in Australia. Still can't find the actual film to view!
• Giuseppina (1959) An 'Academy Award' winning film set at an Italian petrol station where characters pass through on their onward journey, while entertaining and playing with the attendant’s daughter, Giuseppina. • Found this one as well: • North-West 200 (1958) Motorcycle racing film shot in Northern Ireland. Can't remember seeing it but I would love to now!
About halfway through the Italian Petrol Station one...https://www.bpvideolibrary.com/record/466 It is flipping brilliant but I must do some work!
Fonzie: Hey, Cunningham, which is cooler? The mirrors up like this at an angle or down like this, straight? Richie: Well, I think you can see better with them down at an angle. Fonzie: Hey, I don't wanna see where I've been. I wanna see how cool I look getting there!
Also this one is quite good. It features the Stelvio pass from many years ago. https://www.bpvideolibrary.com/record/596 Even better: https://www.bpvideolibrary.com/record/452 If you think that you know Cadwell then here is some on-bike instruction. Trouble is that it from 1961! One pearl of wisdom is to not rev over 8000...
