Advice please... the left button Doesn't seem to work on my 05 999 instrument panel, has anyone had this before? I have tried disconnecting the battery, checked the fuse, and removed the instrument panel itself to check the wiring harness. The rest of the dash works as it should but I can't set the time which is annoying.
Surprised no answers. Never owned a 999. But is it one of those switches you have to depress for 3-5secs before it works?
Me too... I tried holding it down for around a minute with no function. I also tried holding it down before I switched on the ignition to see if that made any difference. I'm going to remove the panel again tonight and split it to inspect the circuit board. I have a feeling the micro switch may be at fault.
I have to give mine a long press and a wiggle before it works (oooh missus!). Just have a fiddle with it while rocking it about, that may work.
That's my an this evening, give it a good spray haha! There is no one else that I can find that has the same issue so it must be something simple... I hope anyway.
Word of warning, if you pull the button off it may never go back on properly. Apparently they have plastic tabs that break and are impossible to get hold of replacements.
Not necessary, just pop your head up above the fairing. I cannot think why you'd need to take off the buttons before splitting the instrument case.
Just had the unit apart to inspect it, unfortunately there was nothing obvious so I cleaned with electrical cleaner and refitted with no luck. Back to the drawing board...
Hi I get this with my 749, I get this with my 749, if you hold both buttons down and turn the ignition on, you should get the option to cycle through which bike the clocks on, EU 999 EU749 Uk999 etc, on mine if I do that and set it the buttom magically starts working, I have done this after disconnecting the clock and without disconnecting it, it works for me fingers crossed, cause it annoying without the trip reset and the clock wrong
Thank you so much, the dash is at the auto electricians currently to make sure the micro switch isn't faulty. If they confirm it's okay I shall try this next. Shame I didn't see this first...
I am not sure it will work on yours. But that is the exact problem I get, and it sorts mine, I hope it works for you.
So I have a small update, not all good news but could still workout okay... just got off of the phone to the auto electrician and he has confirmed that the micro switch isn't faulty but he couldn't rule out a problem within the circuit. Going to try to reset it tonight as a final hope.
Your idea worked great, thanks very much! After resetting the dash by cycling through the different models the button now works. Great advice, you saved me doing continuity checks from the dash to the ecu and pulling my hair out haha.
