  3. That bike been for sale forever. It’s not an R

  4. it has, and they ought to put "by the way, this is not an R" at the top of the description but they must have decided to leave it as is to gather more attention.

  5. Thanks for confirming that Yev.
I have spoken to the guy this morning and now have the vin in order to check it.
It comes up as an S Corse, supplied by Ducati Glasgow.
It has no history, and the gearshift has been swapped for race pattern.

Wondering if anyone on here owned or knew it though.

  6. Incidentally there is an 1198SP on ebay that has also been on there for some time (black one).
Everything seems right about it, but its just not sold. Are black ones really that unloved...

  7. that SP looks really nice...
when i went to my local dealer to buy new bike early 2013 they had last 1198SP there left for sale. ive been offered it NEW unregistered for £14k .
stupid me - bought NEW 1199s instead.
now my pani worth fuck all and 1198SP's just going up in price!

  8. The way I always tell is by the bolt on steering damper mount on the 'R' bikes. All others have a welded on steering damper mount iirc. You can change the bodywork, but can't change this easily.

    See what I mean Here

  9. Given the red one at Sheffield is £18k as near as damn it, it looks good value. I'd need to check but I think the desmo service is due at 7500 miles which can be eye wateringly expensive. Andy

  10. There was a black SP for sale that someone on here uncovered as dubious - advertised as low mileage (circa 4K) but ended up much more and an import form the USA I think...

  11. thanks guys.
I've been looking a while and the black one is at what was previously top money. Whilst others have sold (or at least no longer for sale) this one hasn't.
Heading that way tomorrow so may well pay it a visit.

Personally I think the Red SP is over priced. granted it is a very nice bike and low miles, but is it really worth 25 to 30% more than the black one ?
Or maybe the prices really have increased by that much in the last year.
My search for the right bike will continue, but something tells me it will probably be an SP rather than an R ;)

  12. thanks guys.

  13. by pure fluke two pristine red 1198SP Ducatis turned up at Boxhill unbeknown to each other this summer. They decided to ride to Loomies or Bury together and if I’d been quicker I could have joined them on my similar bike. I’ve said for a few years now that it would be nice to get a gaggle of 848/1098/1198 bikes together for a leisurely ride out.

  14. A group of 848/1098/1198's isn't a gaggle. It's a collective.
