748 With A 998,999,999s Engine

    What do you have now , 1098 in there?
     
  5. no i ran a 999 loom then a 1198 loom and now a bespoke bit of kit

    modified 1098R with bsd gearbox..

    999s deep sump engine
    999s THROTTLE BODIES INJECTORS FUEL LINES PIPES
    999s Loom
    999s ECU (Centralina Magneti Marelli ECU DUCATI 999 S-Part#96510303B)

    Will this not solve the headache of trying to mix N match parts ?

  13. Some more research , might help out other members

    To use the stock 748 wiring, ECU, and ignition coils. I would get the fueling right with a Power Commander

    Engine

    • 998 throttle bodies, relocate the ignition coil mounts due to throttle linkage interference
    • notch out the 998 throttle body joining brackets in order to clear the frame cross member (non 748r cross member)
    • OEM 998 headers and with some fiddling will work with 748 exhaust system
    • 998 air box
    Cooling

    • 999 thermostat housing with the rigid aluminum tubes
    • lower radiator mounting bracket had to be removed because it would not clear the valve cover.
    • low profile 999 fan which mounts using bolts that run through the radiator core rather than the brackets that hang off the back of the radiator. The stock fan hit the bottom front of the 998 air box.
    Electrics

    All connectors will fit but

    • -TPS, just resolder with the proper connector, check that you have high resistance with butterflies closed and little resistance at wot, if not swap the cables, its just a simple potentiometer in the end.
    • -Gauge temp sensor (single wire), weld a new bung somewhere in the returning cooling water, important is it needs to be grounded or else it wont work.
    • -Fan switch (Big white), all it does is ground when a certain temp is reached, just mount a manual switch instead.

    998RS radiator and plumbing
    1 of a kind carbon air box mounting 748R frame to 1098R motor with all TB etc enclosed
    60mm exhaust

    dare not even start to tell you about mounting a 10/1198 swing arm
