  8. The Alfa was one of the best value cars i ever owned. 150mph rear wheel drive, l.s.d. and it loved doughnuts more than Homer Simpson.I bought it for £1500 then used and abused it for a few years and sold it for £1350.

The golf was my first love, the Alfa 75 total fun, the Porsche was class, the Audi s3 was nicked and the Bmw 330d my current run-about.

  13. The switchable box makes it like 4 cars in one, to quote Ducati!
The straight six and paddle shift make it a lovely distance car.

  14. I was born there... :)

In the 1970's Bransholme was a typical post war estate that provided social housing for people relocated from Victorian stock that had fallen into disrepair. It went downhill in the '80s as unemployment and drug use soared and Hull / Humberside went off a cliff in terms of its economic outlook. It became notorious, but in all honesty it was no better or worse than many other places. It's a bit of a mixed bag these days as you have "prosperous" estates like Kingswood butted up to Bransholme, which itself sprawled into the adjacent village of Sutton. As more people bought their council houses it changed the character of the place. There are still some bits of it that you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy though. Orchard Park Estate, Boulevard or Coltman Street (off Hessle Road) or Preston Road Estate were/are worse IMO.

This is how I remember it as a kid...

And of course, the maisonettes area around the Garths was enshrined musically by Hull's famous adopted sons...
