Riding The Wild Atlantic Way

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by West Cork Paul, Dec 30, 2018.

  1. I'll post this in the Lounge and in Rideouts and Events.

If any Ducati Forum member calls into Hackett's Bar, Main Street, Schull, Cork, in 2019, with their Ducati, their first drink is on me.

    That's my New Year's pledge.

  3. Well that’s got me thinking!

  4. It’s a genuine offer, reiterated again now that it’s the morning and I’m no longer drunk, just hungover

  5. You may have started something.
Just looking for an excuse to get back out there :upyeah:

  6. Someone has already offered this so no thanks, you're too late :worried:

  7. Very kind offer, fair play to ya dude :upyeah:

  8. Was planning on a highland jaunt this summer with my biking mate, we have done part of the Atlantic Way a few years back, but Free Guinness might just swing it!
    :)

  9. Good on you, I presume that there is room in the bar for a Ducati then

  10. Unfortunately not, it’s a very small bar, so don’t all come at once! However, Ducati Only parking could be arranged out the front by the door. :upyeah:

  15. You're not that near Cork but I've got a new barrow job that's sort of based in Dublin and Cork... so this sounds like an excuse to go to work on the bike. That's a very generous offer. You don't have a tip for rooms with safe (secure) parking in the vicinity do you? That'd make it a very probable thing. ;)

  16. That might be possible if I ever get around to clearing out the guest house.

  17. Don't clear it out too much, sounds affordable... ;)

  18. What's a 'barrow job'?

It's only the one pint !:)

Trust me, you could leave your bike parked on the street with the keys in it and no-one would touch it. One of the benefits of living in a location such as this is the lack of crime. You can guarantee that most of the cars parked on Main Street aren't locked and many have the keys in the ignition still . There are loads of B&B's and one hotel. Even in the hotel your bike will be safe on the street outside. In summer the village is usually full of BMW GS's, I'm just trying to even the score a bit. Check out the village's website.

  19. SWMBO and I have been thinking about turning it into an AirBnB so now you've got me thinking even more. (I can even offer workshop (albeit DIY) facilities in my new garage/bike cave.). Maybe that should be one of my 2019 plans?

  20. For a free pint and conversation... cross raging torrents!

Barrow job = something that isn't your main job, leverages on the stuff you've learned and pays you far from the going rate, if anything... but you do as a favour. ;)

I like the sound of this place... my family are from Cahir. I like the sound of that place too.
