Vans?

  1. I’ve had a Merc Vito 204 Sport for years now. It’s been a great motor. It’s got the E Class 3.0 litre diesel turbo. Which I love because it’s very grunty but a bit thirsty tbh.
Mines the SWB model and I can easily fit 2 bikes in with all associated track kit. Obviously I have to remove the rear seats. This is easy enough but it’s a 2 man job as they’re bastard well heavy and a bit awkward to get hold of.
Problems- when I first got it the ECU packed up (6 years back) and that cost me £900 to sort. But since then no drama at all other than the usual consumables. I’ve been happy with it.

  2. 20181017_144834.jpg 98 T4 2.5 ... get 2 bikes in easy plus kit ... 640 miles to a tank ive done 30k with no worries ... try doing that in a T5 or Vivaro ;-)

  3. My last 2 vivaro’s had done 130+k miles and neither let me down

My new trafic has now done 42k and been faultless.

And they do more than 700 miles to a tank

  4. 900 to 1000 miles per tank with my Vivaro, 35K with no issues so far apart from a recall fuel tank, bigger load space, drives like a car, cruise control, cornering stability, stop start, aircon and no £10k charge for the badge :) my mate who had a T4 that I lift shared with for years says he would buy one if he got a van again and he was like most commenting here: a life long VW fan
Oh, and much quicker too if needed :bucktooth:

  5. iv got one at work at the mo. its mine and i also have a fugly. i dont think a bike will fit unless you remove the front seat. i will measure it up tomorrow for yah.

  6. i was looking at a T5 as i used ti have a T4 a few years ago.. lots of horror stories of the bigger engined T5's.. just in my circle of friends, all that had a T5 had sold it on, high front tire wear if loaded, turbo issues, intercooler, electrical gremlins, and a full motor failure due to the EGR system corroding itself and eating all the alloy elements in the cooler unit..
but i hear the T& is a little better, but for the Multivan you can empty you back account very quickly..
this is why i went in the opposite direction and bought a scrappy 3.2 petrol.. 190 bhp, and about 15-20 mpg on a good day only gets used when i'm home, so i can live with it

  7. Ha ha yes, I would agree. I have a T5 and have done about 640 miles for 30k!

  8. Yep, don't touch one, I have the 2.5 174hp 4motion. By far the most expensive parking space I have ever owned!

  9. Using a Traffic/ Vivaro / talento etc as per Exige. Not sure it’s big enough for two bikes c/w gear though?

  10. It's a lot bigger than a T6 - I thought T4/5/6's would be tight but plenty seem to manage with 2 and all the kit - so you'd be able to sleep in mine too!.

  11. Going for a Lwb Vivaro next, tbh , the short is not quite the m/c I need , but that’s work.
Had many bikes in vans over the years, but two? With gear? Impressed

  12. That's the one I was thinking about mate.
Economy to a point doesn't bother me, I do about 8k a year and my current car does 17mpg so anything will be better than that. I want something quite nice to knock around in!

  13. Agree. Nice drive, plenty enough toys, especially in the le nav version
    17mpg! Jag? 4x4 ?

  14. I've got a 2017 M2 as my daily, and a 5.3 V12 XJS that only does 6mpg, but that doesn't come out much....!

I got rid of the 911 to get the M2, regretted it for a while though.

  15. Xjs - wife’s fave many years ago. Had Tr6 coupe for many years, gone now, boo hoo

  16. I use mine as a daily and it drives great. Not bothered about mpg either as I’m usually away working.
Surprises all the cool kids at traffic light GP too, ha ha...

  17. I like the TR6's!
My Dad bought this new in 1989, it's done a little over 9k miles in going on 30 years...

  18. Is that the v8 tr7?

  19. no thats a TR8.....

  20. How big is this tank? My lil Peugeot gets around 500 mile per tank (£80) .. it's a bit of a shock tbh as the last one which was on lpg cost half that.. this is London traffic miles ...
