This track came up on the Magical Jukebox Machine just now. I remember the first time I heard it. Early 80s, during the time of my endless quest to purchase Todd Rundgren albums. It was a lot of searching as at that time, as TR wasn't terribly easy to find in the UK back then. I usually found the vinyl in 2nd-hand shops. This was also a time when I still read newspapers. So I had located "Faithful", the TR album on which this song could be found - "Boogies (Hamburger Hell)" - and was giving the album a first run-through whilst skimming through a newspaper. "Boogies" came on whilst I was reading about a madman who had entered a McDonalds restaurant in the USA and then proceeded to open fire on the patrons with a gun. Back then, random mass shootings were rare, if not exactly unheard of. It was a long time before I could listen to this track with any pleasure.
Yep, "Faithfull" is a great album alright, I still have it on vinyl....here is what popped up on my ipod tonight while I was weedwacking around our lava flow. One of my favourite tracks by a very talented band.
