This is Sam from Belgium, living nearby the race track in Zolder. I am a proud owner of a 748 from 1999. Bought it a few moths ago. It was a kind of gamble. No history, no maintenance book and the tires were ... raced. The engine looked clean, dry and sounded healthy. With 35000 km on the clock she was no garage queen. The overall outside look was a little messy. I was looking for a kind of winter project and this 748 is my dream bike. Combine this with a low asking price and you understand this was an offer I can’t refuse. I gave it a shot ! Since then I had a lot of fun in restoration all the broken, tired plastic parts, replacing worn bearings, checking and updating electro, studying the belt replacement and so on and on.... It’s not finished yet but I am in no hurry. My goal is to have it ready for some track days this summer and go to WDW in 2020. Thank you for having me. Looking forward to learn more from you guys Include some picture of the project.
Looking good, not sure whether it's the camera angle or not but is the belt tensioner adjusted the wrong way? Steve
A nice petit man cave you have there with bench & all, keep up the good work and welcome to the show, cheers
Hi Sam and welcome. Great pics. @Birdie is right, you’d better re-adjust that belt tensioner before use.
Turning the tensioner clockwise rather than anti-clockwise is a double whammy as not only does it push the belt runs too close together, it stops you from getting sufficient tension as well, so the belt runs are even more likely to touch!
