V4 Insurance Quotes

Discussion in 'Insurance - Sponsored by Ducati Insurance' started by Ravenscry, Jan 29, 2018.

  1. I’m wondering how much of an effect this is having on sales? When my local dealer got their first v4 they where all over me like a rash saying that if I wanted one I’d have to act quickly. Well some time down the line they still have bikes available ...

  2. Indeed. Mine was a cancelled order, wasn't expecting mine for another month. One has to ask tho... how many people are there that can spunk £24K on a bike? I'm only doing it courtesy of a PCP which I guess is the only way to have one, even if you hand it back after three years.
Don't expect any "bargain" used V4s anytime soon cos they ain't gonna sell that many.

  3. Just got mine today. Well, insurers don't like this bike do they!? A couple of my favourite responses on the phone:

Carole Nash: "we wont insure you because you haven't owned a panigale before, so you're a risk"
Me: "I've been riding a 1200cc bike for 3 years, that I still own. I've had my full license for over a decade. 8years NCB. This is my second Ducati. I've completed the DRE academy on a Panigale. This is my third motorcycle on the road, and I've never made a claim ever."
Carole Nash: "You're still a risk".

Hastings: "The bike costs too much".
Me: "Surely, as an existing customer with you for another £15k bike, that's not a problem since I pay in one go, outright".
    Hastings: "We won't insure you."

In the end did comparethemarket and still had to pay 4 figs. :scream:
Oddly, added the tracker and datatag and it went up :sob:

  4. Try DMC/Principal Insurance. You never know they may just be able to help :)

  5. Thanks. Went with Bennett's in the end

  6. Got my V4 on Saturday. Ducati Insurance were extremely helpful and their underwriter considered the fact that I'd had lots of NCB, albeit just over two years expired before I got the Blade. £1450 but only a £350 excess. All forgotten now and a Ducati convert obviously!

  7. Oh dear, onto the merry goround i go. Trying to get insurance for the new speciale, have tried m6 current insirance, BeMoto and hodgson/ McKenzie, so farno quotes, just we need to refer it to a specialist under writer

Oh dear, sounds like this is going to be painful

  8. Try Ramasis, aka Ducati Insurance. They confirmed with the underwriter whilst I waited on the phone and the young woman I spoke to certainly knew her stuff. When I recently went to renew, I chose to pay a little more for a new multi bike policy with advice that I could add my V4 Speciale at a very competative price. Added the V4 on Friday without issue at a slightly lower premium than originally quoted. Andy

  9. Thanks for the pointer, but won't insure me because I have no NCB as my other 2 bikes are on a fleet policy and only one of them has 9 years NCB.

    Hmm, crazy world of insurance.

  10. My Speciale has arrived at the dealer.
I’m now on the insurance merry go round....absolute bloody schisters.
I’ve ridden for 43 years, keeping my 1299s & hypermotard, no claims nor convictions, good NCB.
Average quote so far£2500 & the worst £8000....WTF.!!!! Best is £1550 which is still outrageous and feeling I’m being robbed.

Nearly at the point of cancelling the bike as I will not by held over a barrel and pay that premium.

  11. I'm 30, currently 4NCB and had my licence since 17. Paid £400 this year for my S1000RR, going to cost me an extra £90 until the renewal in April to swap to my V4S with BeMoto. Would highly recommend them.

  12. What is the latest on the V4 with regards to insurance and where are people going with their hard earned wonga to insure these?

Doesn't concern me but we were over seeing Chris @greencat yesterday who seemed quite keen on moving up to a V4 but insurance quotes seemed to be a huge negative from the companies he had spoken to so far...

Surely this must have been sussed and sorted out to reasonable premiums by a few companies by now?

  13. £600 to add to my current multi bike, Multistrada, 748R & 1098R, (3 weeks in to a new insurance) with Ducati aka Ramasis aka Sky Insurance. Andy

  14. had no trouble insuring the base v4 at a reasonable price considering the bike was worth over 19k. but ive sold it now after a year and getting a new Aprilia rsv4rr which was 6.5k cheaper on the winter deals. But found out this bike was not correctly added to the uk insurers so im paying the same in insurance for it as the Ducati v4 I had. insurance will get you in the end whatever it seems. MCE quoted me fairly reasonable on the v4 i found and they were easily haggled down a bit in price ( im in the £400 quote range now living in Oxfordshire).

  15. Cn you say that again, didn't catch it?

  16. !5 repeats... It must be murder when you suffer from " Stammer fingers".

  17. Posted 13 times........that’s a record! Well done :bucktooth:
