1198 Slipper Clutch

  1. I’m guessing it is a slipper, Ducati performance one?

    It wasn’t advertised as having one and I don’t know what I’m looking at but surely it is?

  2. Certainly a Ducati Performance pressure plate. Only way to be absolutely certain is to look at the under side surface of the pressure plate. It should be smooth without a ring of teeth to locate in the centre hub. Nice bonus if it is. Andy

  3. Cheers Andy, be a bonus yes, seems really well looked after with the full system, Ventura shield, bobbins etc , 1 owner seems to have cared for it
     
  4. Hi, not sure of that or the benefit of it to be totally honest, if it is a slipper be a great bonus
     
  5. The 748R slipper clutch had steel basket and plates whereas the later DP slipper has an aluminium basket and friction plates. (Pressure plates are still steel) Only drawback is the aluminium basket has a lesser life span. I changed my 1098R DP slipper clutch basket at 6000 miles because the previous owner had done most of those miles on track and it was showing signs of heavy wear. Would expect 10k plus with normal road riding. Andy

  6. Aren't 1198 clutches different to the earlier models?? As in they had a sort of slipper clutch in them??
     
  7. The 748R had the homologated slipper for the 748RS, which had the basic 3 ramp, no balls set up. The later DP clutch available for the 1198 has 6 ramp and ball set up. Same principle. Although people will dismiss the early slipper, I find it easier to set up on my 853 than I do the later version on my 1098R and it has a much longer life span being all steel. Andy

  9. As much as I can see with the pressure plate fitted I am going to say not a slipper clutch, on the basis that if you was going to fit a slipper it would be 48 tooth.
     
  10. Slippers are not all 48t.
    Bucci and DP ones for instance.
