Another Rear Wheel Impact Socket Question.

I've got the 3/4" drive one and a 3/4" socket but I also bought a reducer so I can use it on 1/2" sockets.

 

Bigger is better..

 

Go with the 1/2 inch. I bought a dewalt gun for the same reason. Good bit of kit. No problem undoing the rear wheel nut.

 

I used my Halfords trade card and bought an air compressor and impact gun all for just over £100. No nut will ever defeat me now, resistance to undo is futile.

 

I reckon the nuts were likely overtightened or that no grease was applied.
Now that you have undone them and hopefully reassembled them to the correct torque, the Clarke tool should be able to remove them.
May I suggest that you try them again as you may not need to buy a different tool after all.

Clarke works a treat on my 1098 wheel nut and clutch centre too.

 

I broke a Halfords breaker bar trying to undo my Monster rear wheel nut. I always correctly torque the nut up. I bought an air gun (I have a compressor, anyway). First time and 'pwhat!' - the nut come straight off.

 

Eaxactly the same on the multi. Broke the bit off a 1/2 inch breaker bar. Now have a Clarke impact driver which I ONLY use to remove nuts, and torque everything up correctly with a torque wrench.

 

Which impact wrench did you go for?

 

I have a nearly new Makita 1700nm used a couple of times. It is body only so you would need to get a battery and charger if you were interested. It's the 3/4" drive version but I have a couple of large sockets to fit it.
