So much for brand new plugs! Never buying NGK again. That's the second low mileage or new one that's given me problems! What do you chaps recommend 848/1098...?
Hmmm funny you should say that. My 749 had new plugs fitted. 1 mile later cough splutter. Replaced the plug (the faulty plug did the same when put in another bike). 4 mile then 6 mile trip no probs. Then 80 miles later (leaving Box Hill Saturday) cough cough bang misfire (those @ box hill probably heard the misfire). I suspect plugs again. I'll have to check if they are NGK. Someone said at Box Hill Ducati recommend Champion. TBC
The NGK one that has just failed on me has only ran in my garage and a couple of mile! Grrrrr....!!! The previous one, on my old bike was 3K!
Been using NGK for ages and never had any problems, until the last couple of years when reliability from them has become diabolical...... only last month the bike was a bugger to start, dropping a cylinder without warning ..... plugs were 2 month old NGK's - put in an old spare set (about 7 year old plugs) and engine fired up immediately. Wonder if QA bloke at NGK has been replaced by someone French?
The NGK plugs I have in my SS came with the bike three years ago......in my quest to resolve a minor low revs rough running problem, I changed them for two sets of brand new Champions...............apart from the fact the new plugs made no difference to the problem, the piddly little spark (almost multiple) they produce compared with the great big fat blue flash from the NGK means the NGK have gone back in for the time being. AL.
It's not the spark, it's the longevity - I always do a quick spark test of new plugs before putting them in and they've all been fine, but the new ones seem to only last a few months before breaking down ....
