I was born in 1967! But i do like some 60's music and you can hear the influence these bands had on 70's 80's and 90's bands. I do like Johnny Kidd and the pirates and the Stones. Johnny Kidd & The Pirates - Some Other Guy - YouTube
Always love sounds of the 60's on radio 2 sat mornings 8 - 10 am. For some reason I always end up with it on sat at the computer browsing eBay for cafe racers, with a huge mug of tea, dunking ginger biscuits... its my Saturday morning ritual.
I like The Velvet Underground So Or footage .... Drugs at this party .. No never I wouldn't give me as much as Asprin and a whip it would all end in tears
First album I bought was Disareli Gears (when it was first released)......so I was fed on a diet of Cream, Hendrix, Led Zep, Canned Heat, Deep Purple.... AL
im a 1964 vintage, love the who, small faces, doors, the animals, yardbirds, motown, the stones 60s stuff, loads more, never got the beatles though or liked them ; )
My folks gave the old stereogram the full monty....Glenn Miller/Marty Robbins/Hank Snow, then a bit later The Supremes and The Searchers/Stones..Sunday mornings were for Kris Kristofferson and Johnny Cash....I've always been into Uriah Heep/ Zappa/DAD kind of thing ,but still get an urge to listen to that other stuff..all good..
Never have enjoyed The Beatles sorry find them rather ( gulp going to be brave ) over rated ! Now The Stones love The Stones
I get the Beatles now (or at least like some of their stuff now). They were the One Direction of their day. The Stones were more Oasis. Kinda. Maybe. Discuss.
Not really. Oasis spent half their time trying to be the Beatles - right down to the Epiphone Casino guitar.
Born in 52 so I grew up with music of the 60s, Cream, The Hollies, Small Faces, Who, Day Clark Five, Stones, The Animals and I did and still love the early Beatles stuff. Music has never been as good as it was in the sixties in my opinion. Steve
Not musically they aren't (in the main). The Beatles were very sugary for most of their lifespan. Definitely boy band material. And I don't think you could tag Oasis as a boy band. Ps. I'm not a fan of Oasis btw. Some good tunes but mainly over hyped chavs.
View attachment 12455 got this in 1980 from my step mother and the who single "my generation" , had the buy her "day trip to bangor, by fiddlers dram" ( um one hit wonder? ) both bought for her in 64 by an ex boyfreind or such, still have them, got live if you want it, brill album, yep still got a record player lol
I'd better hang on to my film camera then.I normally get rid of stuff just before it makes a comeback.I could get it right this time.
I didn't know they'd gone away, love vinyl, just bought The xx's Coexist on vinyl, I cannot get proper bass with CD's. Off thread again....Abbey Road still sounds epic, on vinyl
