May I recommend both items shown here , the very useful shopping basket and the extremely stylish over suit. You`ll be the envy of the whole forum.[/QUOTE]
Love this comfy seat and it looks nearly as comfy as my new seat courtesy of Viking Motorcycle Seats near Sevenoaks, Kent (https://www.viking-motorcycle-seats.co.uk/). It's much more comfortable than the old vinyl (comfort seat as well) as your more or less glued in position with the suede leather so no more sliding around and getting a saddle sore.

  3. I have a similar version which is also very good & grippy & with gel inserts. For those of you with piles( hemerthingy's)

  5. Hi Mike,

The seat I had made was bespoke and more or less everything I wanted was my own idea and hand made @Viking Motorcycle Seats, near Sevenoaks. The cost was probably a little more than what Stevie probably paid for his seat but mine cost me approx £380 fitted.

I did consider the seat cover that Stevie bought but I just wanted my own thing. The guys at Viking were superb in helping me with my design offering ideas on materials and what would work best and I cant recommend them highly enough.
That said, the Ducabike seat covers are also very highly regarded. My next project is possibly Termi exhaust but we'll see.

  6. I’ve used Viking Vinyl for a few seats in the past, what options does your seat have? Gel pad, suede etc? I’m curious as £380 would indicate it’s a fairly complex piece of work?

  7. I had the comfort seat already due to the original seat's vinyl splitting. I got the comfort seat under warranty. As a result it was already well padded so no need for gel/foam inserts. The materials are as you say are top quality suede. I based my idea after viewing several of the other seat covers such as the Ducabike cover but wanted something a little more individual. The stitching is based on the colours from the the Italian flag and there are three embroidered emblems on the seat - Italian flag at the front, Ducati in the 70's style font on the front of the pax seat and the original Ducati Logo at the back.

The seat is now even more comfortable as you don't slide around as before and this helps to stop your ar*$e from aching after a long ride. Lastly, before I installed the seat on the bike I sprayed it with Scotchguard to protect it and give it a little water repellency. I can only estimate that the Ducabike cover is around £200 plus tax + delivery + fitting so its probably cheaper than my seat but not by very much when you add all the extra pieces in. I also wanted to supply trade to a local craftsman and I'm delighted with the result.

  8. I was able to cover around 600 miles in the last couple of days on the Multi. What an awesome bit of kit.

The seat is OK, it's not terrible, but it's not amazing either. I'll get used to it.

My only negative comment would be 'vibrations', my feet and hands are a little tingly today. I'll pick up a set of stainless bar ends at some point, is there anything (relatively inexpensive) that can be done for the pegs? New rubber?

  9. is that needed on a dvt?

  10. How about the latest generation of lighter Lithium batteries?
My dealer agreed to change the boxed unused Yuasa lead acid battery for an AntiGravity Lithium Ion with re-start technology prior to PDI and delivery of my new Ducati Multistrada. Just paid the difference in price. The re-start feature prevents the battery from draining beyond the low voltage threshold. Consequently, it will go into sleep mode while holding a charge to start the bike when awaken. On this note for extreme cold starting, lithium batteries need to wake-up with an active draw such as turning-on the headlights for 30s or so prior to pressing the start button.
The battery weighs only 3 lbs (vs 9 lbs for the OEM Yuasa) and this big boy has 480 CCA (vs OEM 210 CCA). Ok, 6 lbs savings is not that much but heck, it's located at the top of the bike. Besides, I already paid a king's ransom for the lighter Pikes Peak edition. I'll be off to the nearest pub soon to replenish that extra weigh capacity.

  11. Had an Antigravity battery on my MV and had no problems. In fact many on the MV forum recommended them as they provide stronger starting which helps to preserve the somewhat fickle sprag starter clutch fitted to the three cylinder models. Many on here will state that the sky will fall in if you fit one to a Ducati... well, it'll burst into flames anyway.

  12. Round one of changes are pretty much done, I'm ready for my trip to Sardinia next month now.

    1. Radiator guard from ebay.
    2. Garmin Zumo 390 from here.
    3. Kriega fork seal covers.
    4. R&G Monoshock tube.
    5. Reflective tape for panniers (ebay)
    6. New lid.
    7. Evo-Tech bar end weights.
    8. Pair of Pazzo levers.

    That’s enough for now.
