  4. She helped the man on the street get on and make money..... as long as he wasn't lazy and was prepared to work hard, long and clever.
I liked Thatcher... apparently that makes me a bad person.
That said she was a total bitch to the Miners and broke a lot of unions that had become too strong, but she also destroyed communities.

She saw the EU for what it was and what it would become.... hate her or love her, you cannot take that away from her.

    Yours.....
    Council house boy... made good.
    PS
I didn't buy a council house, my dad kicked me out of ours at 16...

  6. Isn't a weird situation that by being partly responsible for the coal industries decimation (Scargill had an input too some forget) that now by that Thatcher decision, we are now one of the least coal dependent and have one of the better lower carbon footprints in europe

Who knew she was such a visionary? :D

  12. as soon as she introduced the poll tax in england she was finished.
the same would happen today with the brexit result.
her only saving grace was that oil came on tap just before she was elected and diverted the cash south.

  13. I agree with you,but my point still stands as she had the character traits of a dog foaming from the mouth at every corner;):upyeah:

  15. I think she actually did foam at the mouth, but an aide always wiped it away before the cameras rolled.

  16. The poll tax was fair.... all adults paying the same amount for local services.... or should we tax people according to the use of those services?
Making (returning) it a property tax just shifted the burden to those who had worked the hardest.... as usual..... ... long live those who feel entitled to benefit from other peoples money.
    As Maggie said....
