I've had no vehicular access to my property for a week, only to find they dug the hole in the wrong place. Now filled in the hole and will return in a few months to close the whole road for at least 4 to 6 weeks for a 5m x 5m by 4m deep hole. All to get us back in mains sewer again. But compared to some people's woes.... it's a small blot.

I once had to follow the instructions for setting the combination for a type of Kensington lock (a bit like a bicycle cable lock). The locks were to be used for securing the hard disk drives of 57 network printers in an office and the installation was time-critical. The kit comprised a steel cable with a 4-digit lock and a small metal prong thingy. The instructions for setting the combination code were literally: 1. Set your chosen four-digit code as the combination for unlocking the lock. 2. Congratulations! You have set the code for your Kensington lock! I had no words for how I felt for the time and I still have no words for it now.
