wondered if anybody could enlighten me on how a foreign buyer can pay for an item I am selling without incurring large charges, it’s a car I’m selling a German guy wants it but money seems to be a stumbling block, anybody gone through this? It’s £6450 if he comes here, so not insignificant and I obviously won’t take euros, thing is if I deliver it it’s £7000 and I’d be in Germany and obviously I won’t leaving the car without the money it’s a bit of a dilemma for me and him.
Transferwise. I pay all my £ purchases though it without hassle and with negligible fees, including everything I’ve ever bought on here. Check it out.
I sold a bike to a guy in ROI recently, just insisted on collection and payment in £GBP so the exchange rate was his problem and he was committed to buying as he made the journey, if he didnt buy it was his wasted trip not mine. If I was delivering I`d ask for something up front to cover the costs.
just get him to book the UK pounds amount at his own bank, and if he is happy then pick up the UK cash with him. i'm in Germany if you need any ideas bouncing off
Get him to come to UK, pay in sterling, he drives off in his newly acquired car, you nip to bank with your fat envelope. Or am I missing something about the deal?
Just about what works for us both time wise more than anything, well actually more than anything is I get paid
I just bought a wheel from JoeC and used Transferwise as he said, once you are registered it's pretty straightforward.
That's more for the two of you to sort out, rather than any help we can give. Drive over, get more money in sterling, get a cheap flight home with an even fatter envelope then go to bank..
I only ever asked what I asked fella, it’s a good forum lots of knowledge so I’m tapping in and appreciate the help and advise, ultimately I’ll decide the best course but certainly be influenced by the help on here.
