944 Engine Using St2 Heads

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by Desmoquattro, Jun 13, 2019.

  1. Hey all, I have got myself an ST2 which I am stripping for some parts. I have the cams and the barrels which are going into my 904. I am curious as to how exactly the conversion is done. I have seen threads on it but they are not really clear. I understand I have to close off the water jacket somehow and make it all into an oil jacket? Theres also some drilling required?
Do I need engine plugs for this?

With the high comp pistons I am planning, and the 944 capacity upgrade I am hoping that my 848 cooler will be up to the job of keeping temp down, I may have to add another oil cooler.

I am doing this over winter. I know that the cams will just drop in, but really need to be degreed, Im fitting adjustable cams at the same time.

I know this has been done before and I am hoping someone on here knows the process and can explain it to me in detail, as I would like to do it myself, however, I can outsource if required.

  2. I think this was a conversion covered in practical sports bike magazine not that long ago by alan sealey on his 900 ss
probably find reference to it on line somewhere

  3. Ill read it again, I remember feeling it was far from detailed enough

  4. have to admit bit anti climactic due to damaging the pistons and barrels

  5. Yeah, I hope my engine doesnt go that way!
